Arsenal vs. Manchester United: Team News & Possible Lineups

Arsenal vs. Manchester United Women Lineups are derived from previous match days. We take into consideration how strong the opponents are, what players are injured and of course team news before the match.

Team News Arsenal

Head coach Renée Slegers gave a team update ahead of the clash with Manchester United:

“We wanted to maximise the time that we got coming back in because it’s a short period of preparation. The squad looks really, really good. From a fitness perspective, Chloe is still not available. Daphne is really close, but still not available. And then, of course, very sad news about Kyra’s mum. She travelled back to Australia to be with her family.”

On Kyra Cooney-Cross: “There’s no time scale at the moment. She is where she needs to be. She’s with her mum and her sisters, spending time there. That’s all we know and that’s all that’s important at the moment.”

What the coach has to say

Renée Slegers on Manchester United: “We expect them to come out and be aggressive and apply themselves as they want to. Of course we see that they pride themselves on their defensive game, their intensity, their aggression. They have specific qualities they’ve added to their squad as well. So we’ll see how they start and finish the game tomorrow.

“We’ll have to be prepared for different scenarios. Because depending on personnel they might want to play those players to their strengths. That’s the fun part about the WSL. You have to prepare for different scenarios. Because you don’t exactly know how the teams are going to come out. What we do know is that we have to be on top of everything every single minute. We felt it at the Emirates last year. We did win 4-3 but they came back with goals. They’ve shown it this season as well. It’s from start to finish.”

Team News Manchester United

The latest team news from Marc Skinner:

  • Ella Toone, Leah Galton and Gabby George are ruled out due to injury.
  • New signings Hanna Lundkvist and Lea Schuller should both be in contention.
  • Millie Turner returned to the make bench against Spurs last time out, which was a welcome sight after a prolonged spell on the sidelines.
  • Jayde Riviere missed out with a knock in our last outing but appears to have shaken off her previous issue.

What the coach has to say

Head coach Marc Skinner ahead of the clash with Arsenal: “Just exciting really. This is a tough team. They’re European Champions and we’re playing them in their backyard. I love the resilience of our team, the way that we play, the quality of our football at times is incredible.

“I want to make sure we go into this year and attack everything. It’s a Champions League game, so we’ve got to go in there and give absolutely everything. With our quality we can really hurt Arsenal. If we do it at the best of our ability.”
