PSV have announced the signing of Shanice van de Sanden, who joins the club from Mexican side Toluca. The winger arrives as the team prepares for the second half of the season and has signed a contract running until the summer of 2027.

Van de Sanden is no stranger to Dutch women’s football league, having already made 154 appearances in the Eredivisie. The attacker previously played for FC Utrecht, sc Heerenveen and FC Twente before embarking on an impressive international career with Liverpool, Olympique Lyonnais and Wolfsburg. During her time in France, she won the Women’s Champions League on three occasions.

Since 2024, the former Dutch international has been playing in Mexico, first with Pachuca and later with Toluca. She featured in 16 of 17 matches but made it clear she wanted to return home, a move that has now been completed with her signing for PSV.

Words from Shanice van de Sanden and the Techinal Manager

Shanice van de Sanden: “I had wanted that for a while, so when PSV came along I was immediately excited. In recent months I have followed the team extra and lived with it immediately, because it quickly felt like my team. PSV is a wonderful club and I am proud to wear the shirt. I want to win prizes with the girls, get the national title.”

Technical Manager Marco Knirsch: “Shanice is an incredibly good footballer. She combines speed with technique and that makes her very interesting for the team. Of course we already have a good forward, but with her arrival we anticipate the departure of a lot of experience next summer. Finally, with her mentality and infectious energy, Shanice is of great value to the team and the pursuit of our ambitions.”

Impressive Recruitment by PSV

During the 2025 summer transfer window, PSV also secured the signings of Aniek Nouwen from Chelsea and Riola Xhemaili from VfL Wolfsburg. The Dutch side competed in the qualifying rounds of the Women’s Champions League and reached the Europa Cup stage before being eliminated by Eintracht Frankfurt.

PSV are now fully focused on the Vrouwen Eredivisie, where they currently sit third with 22 points. Feyenoord and PEC Zwolle are close behind, while the gap to the league leaders stands at just three points.
