Alyssa Thompson Signs for Chelsea

Chelsea have announced the signing of Alyssa Thompson from NWSL side Angel City. There has been much speculation about the transfer fee, with some reports suggesting it is just under ÂŁ1m, while others claim it exceeds that figure. She will wear the No. 12 shirt.

Thompson, 20, is a forward who joined Angel City from Total Futbol Academy, a boys’ club in MLS Next, Major League Soccer’s academy system. She became the youngest player ever drafted into the NWSL when she signed with Angel City in 2023.

During her time with the LA-based club, Thompson made 62 regular-season appearances, scoring 15 goals and registering 11 assists. She also brings international experience to Chelsea, having made her USWNT debut in 2022 against England. So far, she has earned 22 caps and scored three goals.
