Man City vs. Man United: Team News & Possible Lineups

Manchester City vs. Manchester United Women Lineups are derived from previous match days. We take into consideration how strong the opponents are, what players are injured and of course team news before the match.

Team News Manchester City

Head coach Andrée Jeglertz had some very positive news about the squad. Knaak, Clinton, Hemp and Lohmann are all in contention for the game against Manchester United:

“Yes. It’s one for us to consider what is the best way of winning the game. It’s good for us. Of course, the ones that are coming back is giving competition for each position in the team bigger and raising the level in the training session. When you have more players, the load is a little less. When there are few, you need to be careful with how you load the other ones because repetition becomes more.

“[It adds] quality too. It gives us opportunities to think how we want to start and end the game.”

The head coach confirmed the clash with Manchester United comes too soon for Greenwood, Fowler, Kerolin and Murphy: “They are on their way but when it’s time it’s time”.

What the coach has to say

Head coach Andrée Jeglertz on facing Manchester United: “You cannot take down how big [a Manchester derby] is. We need to live that and enjoy it to play these kinds of games because this is why they started playing football. To have the opportunity to play a derby in this great stadium in front of home fans, they need to enjoy it… At the same time, they are playing a game not the event so making sure they do what they are supposed to do.”

Team News Manchester United

Head coach Marc Skinner on Tullis-Joyce: “I think early this afternoon [Friday] she’s meeting with the doctors,” Skinner said in his press conference ahead of our league clash with crosstown rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. “We’ll be able to know more there. I’m hoping she might be available for the weekend.”

On Ella Toone: “Tooney, going into the game, had a little niggle, so it was just managing, really, managing her minutes. She’d obviously hit the game against Villa hard, so we were just making sure. And I really mean, it was a tiny niggle, but I didn’t want it to get worse.” Toone is fit and healthy for the clash with Manchester City.

What the coach has to say

Marc Skinner on Melvine Malard: “Melvine is really at top of the game. So if I was a defender, I really wouldn’t [want to] be playing against her right now. She’s fluid, she’s fluent, I’ve already spoken about her character and how it’s very Manchester United.”

On Jess Park: “I’m actually buzzing he [Jeglertz] didn’t want [to keep Park] because, for us, we have a little superstar.”
