According to The Athletic, Manchester United forward Rachel Williams is close to joining Leicester City. The veteran striker signed a one-year contract extension in the summer of 2025, tying her to United until the summer of 2026, but now appears set for a new challenge.

Williams joined the Red Devils in 2022 after spending two seasons with Tottenham Hotspur. Since arriving at United, she has made more than 80 appearances across all competitions and scored 21 goals. Upon signing her contract extension, the 37-year-old spoke of her commitment to the club and her role within the squad.

“I am delighted to be continuing at Manchester United,” Williams said at the time. “The growth we have seen over the last few years has been great to be a part of, and I look forward to lending my experience to this exciting squad.”

That next chapter may now come at Leicester City. The Foxes have been active during the winter transfer window as they look to strengthen their squad. Leicester have already added Sarah Mayling on loan from Aston Villa, signed Ashleigh Neville from Tottenham Hotspur, and completed the signing of Emma Jansson from FC RosengĂĄrd.
