She arrived at the club with a minor injury, so the fans have been waiting for her so make an appearance. Girma finally did during the Women’s Super League game against Leicester City on the 2nd of March.

New Record for Most Expensive Transfer in Women’s Football

Rachel Kundananji to NWSL (2023/2024)

The most recent move from Rachel Kundananji to Bay FC crushed the record of Barbra Banda to Orlando Pride. The football player from Zambia made the move for £685.000 (€805.000). Kundananji is also the first African, male or female, to break a transfer fee record. This is now the most expensive transfer in women’s football.

The Portugese football player made the move from Benfica to FC Barcelona this summer transfer window. FC Barcelona had to pay a transfer fee and the transfer clausule. The total, including the bonus, comes down to €650.000. Very impressive for a 21 year old football player. The forward is a replacement for Mariona Caldentey.

Keira Walsh former most expensive women’s footballer

Keira Walsh used to hold the record in 2022. The 26 year old football player made the move from Manchester City to FC Barcelona for nearly €410.000. The great success of the England Lionesses and winning the Euros probably made that deal happen. Walsh earned player of the Match in the final and was in her last year of contract at City. It was a no brainer for her to make the switch. Walsh recently made a transfer to Chelsea for €550.000. So, she moved back up the list again.

The Blues had a troublesome start to the second half of the season. Sam Kerr picked up an ACL-injury during a warm weather warm-up. The Australian strike immediately knew she would not play the rest of the season, nor during the Paris 2024 Olympics. Chelsea acted fast; there only replacement at the time was Mia Fishel, who also got an ACL-injury shortly after. The club bought Mayra Ramirez from Levante and she never looked back. Her transfer fee came down to €500.000.

Ewa Pajor to FC Barcelona (2024/2025)

The Spanish football club signed three players this summer, two coming in hot in the top 10 most expensive women’s football transfers. After Kika Nazareth, Ewa Pajor comes in on a shared fourth place with Mayra Ramirez. Her transfer fee from VfL Wolfsburg to FC Barcelona was €500.000.
