PSV Eindhoven have announced the signing of Janice Cayman on a permanent deal from Leicester City. The experienced defender made 66 appearances for the Foxes and proved to be a key figure both on and off the pitch. She will now continue her career in the Netherlands, joining PSV at the age of 37.

Cayman is Belgium’s record international, having earned 170 caps for the Red Flames. A versatile player capable of operating in defence, midfield and attack, she brings a wealth of experience from spells at OL Lyonnes, Montpellier, OH Leuven, Paris FC and Western New York Flash, among others. During her time with OL Lyonnes, Cayman won two Women’s Champions League titles, along with multiple domestic league, cup and Super Cup honours. She has signed a one-and-a-half-year contract with PSV.

Upon completing the move, Cayman said: “It is an honor to be able to play for PSV. There was mutual interest and then things can go very quickly. I think I add a lot of experience to the selection and can help young players. Just like PSV, I have big ambitions: I want to play European football and fight for the championship.”

Aniek Nouwen Tears ACL Again

Cayman’s arrival comes at a difficult moment for PSV following news that Aniek Nouwen has suffered another ACL injury. While the 26-year-old previously tore the ligament in her right knee, this latest setback affects her left knee.

The injury marks another major blow in Nouwen’s career, which has already been disrupted by long-term absences. Having only recently returned to action with Chelsea, she now faces another lengthy spell on the sidelines, with recovery expected to take between nine and twelve months.

“This is coming extremely hard, especially now that I was just allowed to play again,” Aniek said. “I had left a tough period behind me and now I’m suddenly in the middle of it again. Nevertheless, I’m going to do everything again to come back stronger.”
