Last week, England delivered a commanding reminder of their EURO 2022 form with a 6–0 victory over Portugal. It was a confident, clinical performance, headlined by a hat-trick from rising star Aggie Beever-Jones. Next up is a high-stakes clash with Spain, who also secured a win. The equation is simple: Spain need just a draw to book their place in the Final Four, while Sarina Wiegman’s England must take all three points to advance. Let’s take a closer look at the potential line-ups, key statistics, and where to watch Spain vs. England.

In situations with the ball, we did very well, we have managed to score five goals and we must congratulate the team and let them enjoy it. Let’s think about the next one.”

On facing England next: “Every game is different. England is a great rival. As a team we respect all rivals. We had to know how to play this type of game, which is not easy. England is a very demanding opponent and it will be a different game.”

The head coach also had a message for the fans: “I encourage all of CornellĂ , Barcelona, â€‹â€‹Catalonia and Spain to come and see a match of authentic level. We want you to enjoy the match and help us be in the final phase of the Nations. We are thinking about the next match.”

What the coach has to say:

Head coach Sarina Wiegman was very happy with her team after the 6-0 win over Portugal: “It’s what we wanted,” said Wiegman. “You go back to business, and you want to show on the pitch. It’s an important game. We want to do well in the Nations League, we want to keep in the running to win it so we needed a win and it’s really good to see the team show up like this.

“There’s always things to improve, of course, but it was a good score,” continued Wiegman. “We started really well, they played in a shape and after 3-0 they changed to a different shape, and we adapted really well.

“The second half, they dropped very deep and played a 5-4-1 so the spaces became smaller for us. I think the goal we scored was really good, but it was harder to find the space.”

On facing Spain: “When we played Spain here, we dropped a little deeper,” said Wiegman. “We will review this and make final decisions. Spain are so tight on the ball, so smart, so you have to do that really well. I’m really happy with how the team did today though.”
