What the head coach had to say

Peter Gerhardsson on the challenges of the Women’s EURO and making the team:

“One might think that this work would become easier for each championship we participate in, but it still requires a very solid process to land in the final squad. Many players have been responsible for fine performances in both the women’s and the U23 national team during the year, so we really had to twist and turn the last names into this EC squad.”

The head coach is happy with the choices he made but they were not easy ones:

“There has been a lot of competition for the places in many positions here in the national team, and it has really been felt during the year and into these discussions. It is of course sad to have to give negative news to good footballers who are left out, but we feel secure in the decisions and that this selected squad will be able to step into the EC and deliver for Sweden.”
