Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leicester City: Team News & Possible Lineups

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leicester City Women Lineups are derived from previous match days. We take into consideration how strong the opponents are, what players are injured and of course team news before the match.

Team News Tottenham Hotspur

Martin Ho on the new arrivals: “All of them are [available]. Every player that has come in is in contention to play. When new players come into the building, you want them to adapt and, as coaches, you probably want an adaption phase, but it’s more how quick the player and how much the player is ready to perform.

“If you feel they are ready then it’s a good opportunity to put them in as a coach. Whatever we decide to go with at the weekend and how the players come out of training over the next few days, we’ll then pick a team that will go out and win the game.”

On Cathinka Tandberg and Olga Ahtinen: “They’re [Tinka and Olga] probably looking to return at the end of January to be in the squad. They’ve made good progress, ahead of schedule but, with certain injuries, you have to take a bit more caution and we had that opportunity over the Christmas break. They’re both on the pitch, been in parts of training but we’re just building them back up to where they need to be. The end of this month is they targeted return date and, fingers cross, there’s no setbacks.”

On Charli Grant: “Charli, meanwhile, has been progressing really well in her rehab as well. She’s making really good strides and progress. We’ll hopefully see Charli come the end of the month, early February.”

On Jess Naz, Ella Morris, Luana Buhler and Maite Oroz: “Ella is back on the grass and doing parts of training. Luana is still doing rehab, Maite is making good progress and Jess just had her operation and in a good place.”

What the coach has to say

Head coach Martin Ho on facing Leicester City: “[It’s] a tough one. I think since Rick gone in there, he has done an outstanding job. They’re well organised, they’re very aggressive in terms of defensively and, then with the ball, they’re very fluid and they’re very dynamic going forward, so we know they’re going to be a threat. I have a lot of respect for them as a team and I’m glad to see that they’ve proved a lot of people wrong. We know it’s going to be a tough game and I don’t think there’s any game now that you go into where you think it’s a kind of a gimme and you’re going to come out with the result. You’ve got to earn it.”

Team News Leicester City

Head coach Rick Passmoor with the latest team news: “Denny [Draper] and Jutta [Rantala] are still working with the medical department,” Passmoor told the media. “Celeste [Boureille], of course, has an ACL injury, but she’s seeing a specialist today and will have an operation soon, and then she’ll be in rehab, but of course, will be out for the season.

“Hlín [Eiríksdóttir] and heather have joined us in training this week, but still doubtful that they will play this weekend. We’ve just come off the pitch so we will have to see. Noemie [Mouchon] is available and doing well so will be in contention after training this week.”

What the coach has to say

Rick Passmoor on the transfer window: “We are really pleased with the three we have got in. We will always be open during this transfer window if we possibly can bring in other players. We have until the end of January to get people in.

“In terms of departures, there might be some loans. When I came here in September players had left, and it meant a young squad was left. I might be a pain for the club, but I want to ensure we have a competitive squad.”
