West Ham United have announced the signing of England U20 international Ria Bose. The defender has agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal and becomes the club’s second signing of the winter transfer window as West Ham begin a new era under head coach Rita Guarino.
Bose follows the arrival of Estelle Cascarino, who joined on loan from Juventus until the end of the season. Cascarino made 49 appearances for Juventus across the past two and a half seasons.
Ria Bose came through the youth ranks at Brighton & Hove Albion before moving to Chelsea and later Sporting CP in Lisbon. She has represented England at every youth level from U16 to U20 and featured at the 2024 UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship. She will now continue her career in the Women’s Super League.
Words from Ria Bose
“I’m so happy to be joining West Ham United,” she said. “I know that West Ham is going to help me progress as a player. This is a new beginning and the next step in my career.
“I bring a lot of energy. I’m an attacking full-back that likes to get up the pitch but I also pride myself on my defending too. West Ham is a big Club with a rich history. It’s an exciting project here which I’m looking forward to being a part of. I can’t wait to get started.”
Words from the head coach: “The Club have been monitoring Ria’s progress for a little while now so I’m delighted to be able to welcome her to the Club,” she said. “Ria has a lot of potential. She’s a dynamic full-back who can impact the game in defence and attack.
“She has been a key player for the England youth sides over the last few years and I’m sure she will continue to progress in a West Ham shirt in years to come.”
