How are the Women’s Ballon d’Or Awards decided?
The Ballon d’Or is awarded based on three main criteria:
1) Individual performances, decisive and impressive character
2) Team performances and achievements
3) Class and fair play
The Ballon d’Or is given by a panel of expert journalists, with one representative from each country in the top 100 FIFA rankings for men and top 50 for women.
Each juror picks ten players in order of merit from a list of 30 created by the France Football editorial team, the best juror from the last edition (Costa Rica for men’s and South Africa for women’s), and UEFA ambassadors Luís Figo for men and Nadine Kessler for women.
The ten chosen players receive points: 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1, based on their ranking. The player with the most points wins the Ballon d’Or. If there is a tie, the winner is decided by the number of first-place votes. If it’s still tied, they check the second-place votes, then third-place votes, and so on.
