Multiple Women’s Super League clubs have expressed interest in signing Trinity Rodman from the Washington Spirit, according to Tom Bogert and Meg Linehan. The forward will become a free agent after this NWSL season and could be on her way to an English club. The Spirit are hoping to keep the attacker, but due to roster constraints there is limited room for the club to maneuver. If Rodman does not sign a new deal, she will be free to leave after the NWSL 2025 Final on November 22. Washington Spirit are currently in the semifinals, facing the Portland Thorns. Should they advance, either the Orlando Pride or Gotham FC will await them in the final.

Key Points in Contract Talks

According to Rodman’s agent, salary is the biggest factor in negotiations, and talks are very limited due to the current NWSL salary cap. Women’s Super League clubs, however, have larger budgets.

The NWSL salary cap is set at $3.3 million per club, with plans to increase it to $5.1 million by 2030. The minimum player salary is currently $48,500 and is scheduled to rise to $82,500 by 2030.

Trinity Rodman Career Highlights

Trinity Rodman was drafted by the Spirit with the second overall pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft at 18 years old. She signed a three-year deal with an option for a fourth season. After her breakout rookie year, she quickly appeared on the radar of clubs worldwide. The option year was exercised this season, tying her to the Spirit through the 2025 offseason. Rodman is currently recovering from an MCL injury, and her return timeline remains uncertain, though she was recently seen training with the squad.
