Chelsea vs. Liverpool: Team News & Possible Line-ups
The possible line-ups are derived from previous match days. We take into consideration how strong the opponents are, what players are injured and of course team news before the match.
Team News Chelsea
Sonia Bompastor with the latest squad update: “We’ll have Millie, Lucy and Sandy back in the squad. They were well rested last week. Mayra won’t be in the squad. But she’s doing well. She had a session on the pitch today. We will continue to build her up for her to be available for the FA Cup final.”
Sophie Ingle, Chelsea legend, will leave the club at the end of the season. Bompastor thanks the player. “Sophie has been an incredible player for Chelsea. She is another example of someone who has the right mentality. Unfortunately, she didn’t play this season because of her injury, and for me, not having the opportunity to coach her in official games was a little bit sad.
“Sophie is someone who works really hard. She’s a winner, and in pre-season I was really glad to have her around the team because she’s also a leader. She gave a lot to this club, so a big thank you to Sophie for everything she achieved with the club and I wish her all the best for the future.”
What the coach has to say:
Head coach Bompastor on Liverpool: “I expect Liverpool to come and be usually motivated for that game. For one principal reason, they can finish fifth in the league, or they can finish at the ninth spot, which is a big difference. So, if I was their manager and their players I would be usually motivated to come into that game and make sure I get the three points. We are aware of that.
“We want to finish in a win also, so it would be a good game with both teams motivated. As you could see when we played them in the FA Cup semi-final, they put us in a big challenge. I think the first half was probably not the one we wanted to have against them, especially because they were able to score. But the second half was a lot better, so we need to make sure we play against them as we did in the second half.”

Squad update from Amber Whiteley: “We’re still going to be without Leanne Kiernan this weekend and Lucy Parry as well.”
On Lucy Parry: “She’s just got a slight hamstring strain. It’s nothing too serious but we’ll keep her out of the team this weekend.”
What the coach has to say:
Head coach Amber Whiteley on the last time they faced Chelsea and the challenges this weekend: “We take lots of confidence from that game. It was a really good performance and we had good momentum in the first half. It’s an important game for us this weekend in terms of picking up points and trying to improve our league position. There’s lots to play for.
“I said the next time we came up against them I wanted to see improvements. I want to see how far we’ve progressed. We want to make it as difficult as we can.
“It’s not been the season we would have wanted but there’s still a lot of positives to take from it. The response in the last few months has been brilliant.”
