On May 16, 2025, ACF Fiorentina announced they would part ways with head coach Sebastián De La Fuente at the end of the season. During his two seasons at the helm, the club reached the finals of both the Italian Cup and the Italian Super Cup, and qualified for the most recent edition of the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Less than a month later, his successor was confirmed: Pablo Piñones-Arce.
Pablo Piñones-Arce career highlights
The Swedish football manager played for Hammarby IF during his playing career and later returned to the club as an assistant manager. In 2020, he took charge of the women’s team as head coach.
Under Piñones-Arce’s leadership, Hammarby earned promotion to the Damallsvenskan. The following season, they won both the Swedish League title and the Swedish Cup. His success led to a move to NWSL side Houston Dash, where he served as Technical Director in 2024.
Now, just a year later, he is set to begin a new chapter with ACF Fiorentina. His contract runs until 2026, with an option to extend for an additional season.
The 2024/2025 season
ACF Fiorentina finished fourth in the regular season with 28 points, which qualified them for the championship round. In the final eight matches, the club earned 13 points, maintaining their fourth-place finish.
Stine Ballisager to Bayern Munich
Ballisager is a 31-year-old Danish defender and according to FC Bayern Munich’s sporting director, she is “combative, fast, strong in air duels and also technically savvy”.
She began her youth career with Vellev and Team Viborg before moving to IK Skovbakken in 2012 and later VSK Aarhus. Her next step took her to Norway with Vålerenga, where she won domestic league and Norwegian Cup twice. After a short stint (2023-2024) with KC Current in the NWSL, the defender returned to Europe and signed for Fiorentina in the 2025 January window. The defender signed a deal until 2027 with Bayern Munich.
