AS Roma have announced the signing of Annalena Rieke from SGS Essen, where she spent the past three seasons. The midfielder made 68 appearances for the German club, scoring 10 goals. Rieke was Essen’s second-highest scorer last season and an undisputed key player.

What Annalena Rieke had to say

“It’s surprisingly time to say goodbye — and sooner than I expected,” said Rieke. “I’ve always felt very comfortable in Essen and was met with a lot of understanding when it came to the transfer to Rome. I’m incredibly grateful that the club saw AS Roma’s offer as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and supported me in taking this step.”

Rieke continued: “I’m truly thankful for the past few years — for learning to be patient and for how much I’ve grown as a player. I’m also grateful for the club’s patience with me when it took some time to settle in, and for always supporting me through every situation. The games at Hafenstraße and the fans — I’ll really miss them.”
