Bristol City have announced the signing of Katie Robinson from Aston Villa during the winter transfer window. The forward has agreed to a two-and-a-half-year deal, keeping her at the club until June 2028.

This marks a return to Ashton Gate for Robinson, who came through Bristol City’s youth academy and made her senior debut in 2018. She later signed her first professional contract with Brighton & Hove Albion in 2020.

During her time with the Seagulls, Robinson made 68 appearances and scored 10 goals, alongside a loan spell at Charlton Athletic. Her performances earned her a move to Aston Villa, where she also spent time on loan at Everton. Robinson will now continue her career back at Bristol City.

On the international stage, Robinson featured for England at the 2023 Women’s World Cup, where the Lionesses finished as runners-up. She made her senior debut in November 2022 in a friendly against Norway and has been a regular presence in squads since. Robinson also helped England win the Arnold Clark Cup and the inaugural Women’s Finalissima in early 2023.

Words from Robinson and the Head Coach

Katie Robinson: “It’s nice to be back, it’s the club that I started my career at so it’s lovely to be back here again.

“I’ve had some good discussions with Charlotte and Mercury13. Our visions align and I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to be a part of it.”

Head Coach Charlotte Healy added: “Katie is a fantastic player. She’s young, she’s quick and she’s so exciting to watch, I know the fans will be delighted to have her back at Bristol City.

“Over the past couple of seasons Katie has gained some fantastic experiences both domestically and internationally playing in the WSL and being part of the England Seniors World Cup squad.

“She’s grown as a player and knows what it takes to play at that level. Her experience will be really important to our team for the second half of the season, so I’m delighted that she chose to join us and be a part of what we’re building here at Bristol City.”
