Kelly Gago joined Everton in the January transfer window this season. The Toffees needed reinforcements up front. Gago did very well and has attracted the attention of PSG, according to L’Équipe. She could be the perfect replacement for Marie-Antoinette Katoto, who is set to leave at the end of the season. When Gago first arrived at Everton she said: “The English league is one of the best leagues in the world and is very different from that in France”. This suggests she might not want to move away from the WSL just yet.

Can PSG convince Gago to make the move?

Kelly Gago started her professional career with Saint-Étienne before she made the move to Italy in 2022. Her time with Sampdoria ended in 2023 when she moved to Parma and eventually joined FC Nantes in the summer of 2024. Kelly Gago played a total of ten games for FC Nantes (starting 9). She made team of the week, scored two goals and gave an assist. There was no lack of interest in the French international.

During the January transfer window, she signed for Everton. “I chose to come and play for Everton as I liked what Brian, the head coach, had to say and how his team plays. The way they attack as one and defend as one is what made me want to sign for this team and to help achieve the Club’s goals,” Gago said in her first interview with The Toffees.

Gago quickly proved herself to Sørensen and earned a place in the Starting XI. She made ten appearances, nine starts, scored five goals and gave one assist. PSG picked up on this and are now interested in signing the French football player.

  • Everton currently sit in 8th place in the WSL and with two more matchdays, the highest they can finish is fifth.

One of the big differences between the club is that PSG are often in contention for the Women’s Champions League, while Everton are not.
