The summer transfer window is coming up and that means players and clubs start to look around for new opportunities. There are quite a few players with expiring contracts, so that means big moves might be coming up. Let’s have a look at this weeks women’s football transfer news.

WSL transfer window dates: 24 June – 13 September . The deadline is 11pm for domestic deals, midnight for internationals.

Midfielder Olivia Smith on her way to Arsenal

At least that is what the Gunners are trying to do. Smith is a Canadian football player who currently plays for Sporting CP in Portugal. The clause in her contract is 250K and apparently Arsenal is willing to pay this. Smith started her career with the North Toronto Nitros in 2022 and made the move to Sporting CP in 2023. She made 17 appearances and scored 13 goals.

FC Barcelona is eyeing for Swiss talent

Sydney Schertenleib is very talented midfielder that plays for GC Zürich. Schertenleib made her debut for the Swiss national team and scored a very important opening goal against Poland during the recent friendlies. The midfielder has dual citizenship and it seems like the USA is keeping a close eye on her as well. Going to FC Barcelona might not be the best regarding playing time. Even if Schertenleib is an amazing midfielder, the competition is killing at the Spanish club.

Rumour: Toone to FC Barcelona

According to Kathryn Batte, FC Barcelona is interested in Ella Toone. The Manchester United player and England international scored another fenomenal goal in Wembley Stadium during the Cup final this season. Barcelona is letting a few players go this season and hasn’t renewed Caldentey yet. There has been no contact yet.

Linda Sembrant to Frauen Bundesliga

Sembrant is a Swedish football player who used to play for Juventus in the Serie A. She now made the move to Bayern München. Sembrant will be a great addition as centre back. With Juventus she won a great deal of titles, sucks as the Serie A in 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22. Sembrant also has an impressive international career. She got her first call up in 2008 and has played 136 matches since.

Rumour: Risa Shimizu to Manchester City

According to Emma Sanders on X, Risa Shimizu will make the move from West Ham United to Manchester City. The right back played for Nippon in Japan before making the move to the WSL. If she moves to City it will probably be as a back up. The club has quite some injuries to deal with over the summer. In the meanwhile West Ham United is signing new deals with players: Dagný Brynjarsdóttir just signed for another year.

Manchester City says goodbye to four players

After just missing out on the WSL title this season Manchester City announced that Filippa Angeldahl, Ruby Mace, Ellie Roebuck and Demi Stokes are leaving the club. Ruby Mace as mentioned below might be on Chelsea’s shortlist.

Chelsea is looking for new midfielder

With quite a few Chelsea players leaving after this season, The Blues are looking to strengthen the team. According to Soccerdonna the club has their eyes on Ruby Mace from Manchester City. Mace went through Arsenal’s youth and even made her debut at the club in 2020. After playing a few minutes for the Gunners she left on duel registration to Birmingham City, but that same year Manchester City signed her on a professional contract. City loaned her to Leicester City, so she could play more minutes. Mace is only 20 years old and showed the WSL clubs what she can do. Let’s see if Chelsea can sign her.

Then another rumour came up this week: Julia Bartel to Chelsea. The Barcelona central midfielder is not getting any play time in Spain, so she is probably looking for a club with more prospects. Her contract expires this summer with Barcelona.

Nikita Parris to NWSL

North Carolina Courage really tried to persuade Nikita Parris to make the move to the National Women’s Soccer League. The English forward is currently at Manchester United, but also played for Olympique Lyonnais, Manchester City, Everton and Arsenal.

According to the new outlets, Parris was offered a salary of 1 million dollars over three seasons. NC Courage wanted the forward to make the transfer immediately. Parris decided to finish the season at Manchester United. It is uncertain if she will make a move at the end of the season.

Move to WSL for Portugese talent?

Kika Nazareth is a 21 year old forward who plays for Benfica. She made 68 appearances for Benfica since 2018 and scored 58 goals. She signed her first profesional contract at the Portugese club, but might be looking at a transfer. Benfica had an amazing season by winning all four domestic competitions. They are the first women’s team to do so in Portugal. Nazareth got to play 37 matches and scored 25 goals. She is quite the player. Chelsea and Barcelona are both keeping an eye on her.

Liverpool clean out – Miri Taylor might stay at Aston Villa

Liverpool announced quite a few players that will depart from the club. All have expiring contracts: Shanice van den Sanden, Emma Koivisto, Melissa Lawley and Miri Taylor. Taylor is on a loan at Aston Villa this season and it looks like the club wants to keep her.

Rachel Corsie renews contract with Aston Villa

More exciting women’s football transfer news this week: Rachel Corsie renewed her contract with Aston Villa. The captain and Scotland international extended for another season until 2025. The football player arrived at Aston Villa in 2022, made 54 appearances and scored two goals. Carla Ward is very excited about the renewal, even tough the head coach is leaving after this season:

Villa boss Carla Ward said: “Rachel is someone I’d previously worked with before her arrival at Aston Villa, and she has become a prominent figure within the playing squad ever since she joined us a couple of seasons ago. Her experience and leadership has played a hugely important part in our success in recent years and that will remain invaluable.”

Gemma Font renews with FC Barcelona

Goalkeeper Gemma Font renewed her contract until 2025. Font played 26 games in her 5 season with the club. In those games she only conceded 11 goals. this season Font defended the goal in one Champions League match and friendly matches. The Goalie is only 24 years old so still has a lot of time for improved and getting a shot at being first keeper.

Everton close to signing Inma Gabarro and Toni Payne

Everton is looking to improve their squad next season. The club would like to sign Inma Gabarro and Toni Payne. Both players currently play for Sevilla. Inma Gabarro is a 21 year old midfielder. She started her career in Sevilla’s youth, working her way to her debut in 2020. Gabarro won the Women’s World Cup U20 in 2022. But the midfielder didn’t stop there: she also won the Silver Ball for the second best player of the tournament and Golden Boot as the topscorer with 8 goals.

Toni Payne plays as a forward for Sevilla and represents the Nigeria women’s national team. Payne decided to make the switch from the USA national team to Nigeria’s in 2019. The Dutch might now her from her time at Ajax from 2016-2018. She left the club for a transfer to Sevilla.

Real Madrid signs Antonia Silva

The right back is making the move from Levante UD to Real Madrid. According to multiple sources she already passed her medical exam and signed her new contract. Real Madrid or the player have not announced the transfer officially yet.

The Brazilian football player knows her way around a few positions in the back. Before joining Levante she played for Madrid CFF, Iranduba, Audax and Ponte Preta. Antonia Silva played for Brazil in 2020 and scored against Mexico in 2024 during the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Julia Grosso will not renew with Juventus

Julia Grosso is a Canadion football player who plays as a midfielder for Juventus. However, she decided not to renew her contract with the Italian club. Sources say she might be looking for a move to the National Women’s Soccer League. Her reason behind this is getting in the Canadian national squad. What NWSL club she wants to move to is unknown. The signing of Paulina Krumbiegel makes sense in combination with Grosso leaving.

Tessa Wullaert leaves Fortuna Sittard

The Belgian striker plays for the Dutch club Fortuna Sittard since 2022, but her contract expires this summer. A few clubs are keeping their eye on her, including Internazionale. The Italian club hasn’t played a great season so they could use Wullaert’s expertise up front.

Wullaert played for some impressive clubs such als VfL Wolfsburg, Manchester City and RSC Anderlecht. In 2022 she made the move to Fortuna Sittard. That season the club made it’s first appearance in the Azerion Vrouwen Eredivisie. Wullaert did let us know she is making a move this summer and it will be an international move.

Denise O’Sullivan to Manchester United

This women’s football transfer news is not confirmed, but rumours say that O’Sullivan might move to the women’s super league. Her contract with NC Courage ends this summer so the player can make a move to wherever she wants.

AS Roma signs Austrian defender

Verena Hanshaw signed a contract with AS Roma. The 30 year old defender makes the move from Eintracht Frankfurt to the Italian club. Hanshaw previously played for SC Sand, SC Freiburg, Cloppenburg, Herfoder and Landhaus Wien.

The defender has an impressive international career of 102 caps for the Austrian national team. The German club is currently the number 3 in the competition, but this can still change. The title is out of Hanshaw’s hands. She will however compete for the Serie A title next season. AS Roma is currently the number 1 in the title race and can stil win the Italian Women’s Cup.

Rumour is that AS Roma is looking to sign more players over the summer, such as Lineth Beerensteyn. The Dutch forward is 27 years old and currently plays for Juventus. AS Roma will have to compete for Beerensteyn with several Frauen Bundesliga clubs. We will keep our women’s football transfer news updated with the latest.

Chinwendu Ihezuo extends with Pachuca

The Nigerian footballer extended her contract with Pachuca, the club from the Liga MX Femenil. Ihezuo plays as a forward for the club as well as the Nigerian national team. Before her time with Pachuca she played for Monterrey, Henan Jianye and BIIK Kazygurt. Ihezuo won the Kazakhstani Championship and Women’s Cup, and participated in the Women’s Champions League in 2016/2017. She extended her contract until 2027.

New midfielder for Juventus

Paulina Krumbiegel makes her way from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim to Juventus. The 23 year old has an estimated market value off €90.000 and signed a contract until 2026. Krumbiegel is a German footballer who played for TSG Hoffenheim since 2016. It’s a big step in her career to make the move to Juventus.
