Leicester City have strengthened their defence with the signing of Ashleigh Neville from Tottenham Hotspur. The Foxes add a highly experienced player who has made over 100 appearances in the Women’s Super League since Spurs entered the competition in the 2018/19 season. Neville has signed a 1.5-year contract, with the option to extend for a further season. She primarily operates at right-back.
Before joining Tottenham Hotspur, Neville began her senior career at Sporting Club Albion and later represented Coventry United. Her performances earned her a move to Spurs in 2017, where she quickly established herself in the starting XI.
Neville played a key role in Tottenham’s promotion to the WSL, winning the Women’s Championship in the 2018/19 campaign. Her crucial goal-line clearance against Aston Villa proved decisive, securing the point needed to confirm promotion. She later became the first player in the club’s history to reach 100 appearances.
In total, Neville featured 191 times across all competitions for Tottenham Hotspur, including 115 appearances in the WSL.
What Ashleigh Neville had to say
“This is a new challenge, and I want to help the team put as many points on the board as possible. I’m hoping that the experience I have both on and off the pitch can help.
“Now is the right time for a new challenge and I’m looking forward to seeing what this new chapter will bring.”
Words from Andy Rogers, Managing Director of Tottenham Hotspur Women
“Ash’s contribution to the Club has been immense. She has been influential on our journey to establishing ourselves as a Women’s Super League team, and she departs as an undisputed Club legend.
“A true pioneer of the Women’s game on and off the pitch, Ash has always shown love and care to her teammates, staff, and our supporters. From helping us break into the top flight, to representing us at Wembley Stadium in our first-ever FA Cup Final, we are forever grateful to Ash and wish her all the best for the future. Forever a member of the Spurs family.”
