The 2023/2204 campaign was a successful one for Leicester City. Contract extensions LCFC Women
Scotland international Sophie Howard extended her contract with the club until the end of the 2024/2025 campaign. Howard joined Leicester City in 2020 from Reading. The 30-year-old made more than 100 appearances for the club so far and helped the Foxes promote to the WSL.Â
Janice Cayman also agreed to a contract extension until the summer of 2025. Cayman only joined Leicester City Women in 2023 from Olympique Lyon. The 35-year-old is Belgium’s record all-time appearance maker.
The third to extend her contract is Shannon O’Brien. The striker also signs a new deal until 2025. O’Brien came over from Coventry United in 2021 and made 60 appearances since.

Women’s Football Transfers for The Foxes
One of the first signings of the season is Asmita Ale. The defender transfers to LCFC from Tottenham Hotspur. The 22-year-old signed a contract until 2027 after her loan spell at the club was successful.Â
Leicester Women secured two other defenders: Chantelle Swaby. The Jamaican international signed a deal until 2026. The football player left FC Fleury in France to go on an adventure in the WSL 2024/2025. Together with Sari Kees, she will strengthen the defensive ranks of the team. Kees is 23 years old and has signed a three-year deal. The young player already has 30 appearances with the Belgium national team. She will be a great addition to the Foxes.Â
Ruby Mace returns to LCFC
The most exciting women’s football transfer was the announcement of Ruby Mace her return. She was on loan with Leicester City Women in the second half of the 2022/2023 season. Mace then returned to Manchester City, but now makes the permanent move to Leicester Women. The midfielder can also play as a centre-back and will bring great strength to the team. Mace was recognized as a talented player by Arsenal. It will be good for her to spend more time on the pitch.

Leicester City Women’s New Head Coach: Amandine Miquel
Who is going to lead this team with all the additions? Amandine Miquel is the new head coach of LCFC Women. The manager signs a three-year deal. One of her best achievements was with Reims. She was promoted to the top tier of French football for the first time since 1989. Miquel said the following about her new challenge:
“I am very excited for this new project. Right now, the WSL is one of the best leagues in the world and it’s the place to be. I am very pleased that I have the opportunity to be here. It will be amazing to manage in such a nice stadium and to have the fans supporting the women’s game. I want to get the best out of every player and help the team climb the table. We want to make our fans proud of their team”, Amanda Miquel said.
“For any manager, the idea is to take the team to the next level. There is big potential here with this team and the Club has equally ambitious objectives. “I definitely have my own footballing philosophy. Football has to be a show, we have to be ambitious, and we want to play offensive football. It’s important for everyone to have that fighting spirit”, she concluded.
