London City Lionesses have announced the departure of head coach Jocelyn Prêcheur after what appeared to be a strong start to their debut campaign in the Women’s Super League. The team most recently suffered a 1–0 defeat to Leicester City but remain in sixth place with 15 points. They have secured five wins so far this season, alongside six defeats.

Despite these results, the club has decided that it is time for a change as they look ahead to the next phase of their development.

London City Lionesses Statement

“Following careful consideration, the Club believes that now is the right time to begin a new cycle and pursue a different strategic direction for the next phase of its development.

“London City Lionesses sincerely thanks Jocelyn Prêcheur and his coaching staff for their professionalism, commitment, and significant contribution to the Club’s recent sporting success, and wishes them every success in their future careers.

Further updates regarding the Club’s coaching structure will be communicated in due course.”

What’s Next for the Club?

The Women’s Super League is currently on a break until January 10, when Arsenal and Manchester United kick off the second half of the season. London City Lionesses will resume their campaign against Liverpool, who sit at the bottom of the table alongside West Ham United. The fixture presents an opportunity for the club to solidify their position in the top six, potentially under new leadership.

According Emma Sanders, a new head coach is already lined up. The incoming manager is expected to be better suited to guide London City Lionesses through the next phase of their development.

Prêcheur joined the club in 2024 after arriving from Paris Saint-Germain and played a key role in securing promotion to the Women’s Super League following significant investment from Michelle Kang. The identity of his replacement has not yet been confirmed.
