Manchester City have announced the signing of Eartha Cumings, who joins the club from FC Rosengård on a three-year deal. The Scottish goalkeeper played every game in the 2024 season, conceding only nine goals and keeping 18 clean sheets. Her outstanding performances earned her the Goalkeeper of the Year Award.
This won’t be Cumings’ first stint in English football. She has previously played for Spartans, Bristol City, Charlton, Liverpool, and Everton.
What Eartha Cumings had to say
“I think it’s an exciting team and it’s always nice to come close to home. There are a lot of young players, but also a bit of a mix [with experience] and obviously, City has really high ambitions and aspirations, so it’s an exciting time to be a part of this team.
“From the outside, it looks like a really great goalkeeper union and like it looks like they have great fun. So, I’m looking forward to being part of it.”
Competition in the Goalkeeper Union
With Cumings joining the squad, Khiara Keating and Ayaka Yamashita will now face strong competition for the starting spot. The two goalkeepers shared minutes during the 2024/25 season, and Cumings’ arrival adds further depth and quality to the position as Manchester City aims to compete for all three domestic trophies next season.
