Mary Earps could be heading back to the Women’s Super League this summer after a difficult spell with Paris Saint-Germain Féminine. According to reports from journalist Emma Sanders, the England international is expected to leave Paris Saint-Germain following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, with newly promoted London City Lionesses among the clubs interested in signing the goalkeeper.
Earps joined PSG in the summer of 2024 after leaving Manchester United Women. She signed a two-year contract with the French side, but her time in Paris did not fully meet expectations. PSG exited the UEFA Women’s Champions League earlier than anticipated and finished third in the Première Ligue behind Paris FC and OL Lyonnes.
Despite the disappointing campaign, Earps remained one of PSG’s most experienced players and continued to feature regularly as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. The 32-year-old would bring significant experience to any Women’s Super League side, having made more than 100 WSL appearances for Manchester United while also playing a crucial role in England’s UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 triumph.
London City Lionesses could emerge as a serious option for Earps as the club prepares for its second season in the Women’s Super League. After earning promotion, the club impressed during its debut WSL campaign by finishing sixth with 27 points, winning eight matches, drawing three and losing 11.
As preparations for next season continue, London City Lionesses have already confirmed several departures.
London City Lionesses Confirm Multiple Departures
Midfielder Julia Roddar will leave the club after playing an important role in London City’s rise to the Women’s Super League. Since joining from Hammarby IF, the Swedish international made 40 appearances and helped establish the club in the top flight.
Defender Wassa Sangaré will return to parent club OL Lyonnes following the end of her loan spell. During her season with London City, Sangaré featured 22 times across all competitions.
Maddi Wilde is also set to depart after spending the second half of the campaign on loan at Celtic Women. Wilde initially joined London City on loan before signing permanently in 2024 and played a key role during the club’s promotion campaign.
Arsenal academy graduate Gesa Marashi is another player leaving the club. The midfielder spent the latter part of the season on loan with LSK Kvinner and will now move on permanently from London City Lionesses.
What’s Next for London City Lionesses?
With the 2025/26 Women’s Super League season concluded, London City Lionesses are now preparing for the World Sevens Football Tournament London Edition. The club will compete as one of eight participating teams in the tournament, which features a $1.5 million prize pool.
Meanwhile, attention will continue to grow around the future of Mary Earps and whether a return to the Women’s Super League is now on the horizon.
