The promising forward signed her first professional contract in July 2023 and headed out on loan to Ipswich Town for the 2023/2024 season. She made 26 appearances for the club, netting 14 goals and gaining a lot of experience.
Her performances did not go unnoticed on the international stage. In October 2024, she received her first call-up to the England Under-23s squad and has since become a regular team member for the Young Lionesses.
What Gunning-Williams has to say
Tottenham Hotspur had a very disappointing season, ending in 11th place with 20 points. The team only managed to secure 5 wins and 5 draws, losing the other twelve games. Despite the challenging season, Gunning-Williams remained optimistic:
“It has obviously been a hard season for everyone involved but, for me, just the personal gains, I have spent the whole season in the WSL, my first full campaign in the WSL, so I’m just excited to get going again. I just want to keep developing, learning from the players around, take my opportunities when they come and just focus on my development.”
The forward also looked back on her loan spell with Ipswich Town: “Going from Academy to first team football is hard anyway so I felt the senior loan experience was so important for me, being bullied by grown women every week was probably quite nice, physicality, tactical ability… all that stuff, it definitely helped to be the player I am now.”
