Melchie Dumornay is every defender’s nightmare in the French League and Women’s Champions League. The midfielder is a threat for every team, having scored 15 goals in 16 matches. Dumornay joined Lyon in 2023 and has played a total of 45 games so far, where she scored 30 goals. Lyon has now extended her contract by three years, tying her to the club until 2029.

Melchie Dumornay on her extension

What Dumornay had to say: “I’m very proud of what I’ve achieved so far. I still have things to learn to progress. I learn from the best people around me. I’m very determined to learn everything there is to learn. I want to win titles.”

Dumornay’s statistics are equally impressive on the international stage. She represents Haiti, netting 20 goals in 20 games. And also scored six goals in this season’s Women’s Champions League. Her football intelligence and speed make her the perfect midfielder and a major offensive threat.

But is does not stop there. Dumornay won the Trophée des Championnes and the French Championship in the 2023/2024 season. One of her best years as she was also named Concacaf Women’s Player of the Year.

Lyon on the extension of Dumornay and Bacha

“Now with a contract until 2029, the club is delighted to continue writing its story with Melchie Dumornay and supporting her as she progresses to achieve her goals, both collectively and personally. This three-year extension, in line with that of Selma Bacha, demonstrates the club’s confidence in her talents and its desire to build a competitive team capable of competing on the national and European stages in the years to come.”
