In the weekend of September 21 and 22 the WSL 2024/2025 kicks off. Twelve clubs will play against each other to decide whoever wins the competition. Last years winners was Chelsea. The Blues enjoyed their last season with Emma Hayes and are now starting preparations with the new head coach Sonia Bompastor. Let have a look at the Top 5 WSL Clubs 2024/2025.

Chelsea FC

Originally the team was called Chelsea Ladies Football Club. They started out in 1992 but were not affiliated to Chelsea until 2004. Sonia Bompastor is ready for her first seasons as head coach of the Blues. The recent signings from the club clearly show her influence. Most players came from Paris Saint-Germain and Bompastor knows Lucy Bronze from her time at Lyon. We are very excited to see where she can bring Chelsea next season.

Manchester City

Manchester City thought the title was theirs in the last three match weeks. Chelsea lost a critical match and City won theirs, taking over the top. The teams ended up with 55 points, but Chelsea’s goal difference was better with +53. Manchester City signed some reinforcements this summer transfer window such as: Vivianne Miedema from Arsenal to strengthen the attack.

Arsenal

Arsenal came in third again, just like last season. The Gunners had five points less than the number 1 and 2. The team has very good players but it seems like something is stopping them from winning. Jonas Eidevall might not be the right person. The head coach gets one more year to prove himself, otherwise Arsenal will move on and look for someone else. The club signed a big player to help out with the trouble in midfield and attack. Mariona Caldentey makes the move from FC Barcelona to the Gunners. She is an exquisite player with almost perfect insight into the game.

Liverpool

Matt Beard and his team came in fourth last season. A lot better than the 7th place the season before. Matt Beard and his team have grown and are ready for the next step. The club completed a very important transfer. Olivia Smith signed for Liverpool, coming over from Sporting CP. The Canadian international is a very talented young player. Other signings are yet to be announced.

Manchester United WFC

The club came in fifth last season and that was not how it was plannend. Manchester United competed for the title in 2022/2023 and now just watched how Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal competed at the top. Manchester United has gone through some tough moments. Even recently when Sir Jim Ratcliffe said the men are the first team and the priority. The club did sign Dominique Janssen, Terland and activated Nikita Parris’s extra contract year. Hopefully Marc Skinner can work with what he got. The team is also moving to the portable training facilities as they have to give theirs to the men’s team. All in all not a good mix to be in the Top 5 WSL Clubs 2024/2025 again next season.
