Sophia Kleinherne has completed her move from Eintracht Frankfurt to Frauen-Bundesliga rivals VfL Wolfsburg. The 25-year-old defender has signed a contract with the Wolves that runs until June 2028. With years of top-flight and international experience, she brings leadership, tactical awareness, and consistency to the Wolfsburg backline. Her arrival marks a strong addition to the squad as the club continues to rebuild ahead of the new season.

Sophia Kleinherne began her career with began her career with FSV Gütersloh before moving to 1. FFC Frankfurt in 2017. She made her Women’s Bundesliga debut on 11 February 2018 against SGS Essen and went on to play 183 matches for Frankfurt, including thirteen UEFA Champions League appearances. 

Progressing through Germany’s youth system, Kleinherne earned her senior debut on 9 November 2019 in a friendly against England. Since then, she has been capped 34 times. Her career highlights include finishing as runner-up at UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 and earning the Fritz Walter Medal in bronze (2017) and silver (2018) for outstanding young talent in Germany.
