Amber Tysiak has completed a move to Union Berlin after leaving WSL club West Ham United. The Belgian defender joined the Hammers from Oud-Heverlee in January 2023 and quickly established herself as a regular in the starting XI.

The centre-back made 58 appearances for West Ham, scoring four goals during her spell in east London.

At international level, Tysiak is an established member of the Belgian national team, earning 45 caps and scoring five goals for the Red Flames. Her most recent major tournament appearance came at Women’s EURO 2025, where Belgium exited at the group stage.

Words from Amber Tysiak and the Director of Women’s Football

“Union have made enormous strides in women’s football in Germany in recent years. After talks with the club officials, it quickly became clear to me that I wanted to be part of this development. I’m looking forward to Berlin, the stadium, the fans and, of course, playing with Hannah again,” said Tysiak on the signing of her contract.

Jennifer Zietz, Union’s director of women’s professional football, added: “Amber is a tall, composed centre-back who has already competed against the best players in Europe. She will bring stability, experience, and presence to our defence. We are confident that she will quickly settle in with us and help the team.”

Statement from West Ham United: “Everyone at the Club would like to thank Amber for her contribution in Claret and Blue and wish her every success for the future.”
