What the coach has to say:
The head coach looked ahead towards the game against Germany. The teams faced off in the Women’s Nations League last year in the match for third place. Germany won by 0-2. Jonker is confident on facing them again:
“The last games gave us a lot of confidence. Especially the ones against higher ranken opponents such as Denmark and the USA. When we reach that level, we can win from everybody. Also, from a country like Germany.”
Even though the EURO 2025 will be his last tournament. Jonker is very clear on their goal: winning the European Championships.
“That is the growing conviction. I did not say that when we lost three times in a row, and I looked around and saw that more and more players were dropping out. Or when players tore their cruciate ligaments (Vivianne Miedema, Jill Roord and Victoria Pelova.) for a few weeks in a row.”
“Then it is not about winning the European Championship,” Jonker continues. “But more about: how do we keep our pants up and how do we qualify for the European Championship? That was a very difficult situation. We succeeded and now all those players are coming back. Then it turns out that we still have a great team.”

- Van Domselaar
