Team News Manchester United
Marc Skinner gave the following squad update: “Yeah, I haven’t seen them yet, but I don’t believe so,” Skinner said, when asked if there were any new injuries. I gave them [a day] off yesterday, and then we’ll get in today [Friday]. We’ll be in tomorrow, and then we’ll go into the game. So, I don’t believe there is.
“I got a report last night saying that there’s no new niggles, so hopefully everybody will be ready and fit.”
What the coach has to say:
Marc Skinner on his message after the defeat to Chelsea: “I felt that they didn’t deserve the outcome and that sometimes football is cruel. But it’s a great opportunity for us to spring forward, and I know they will. After tonight, I saw it in their eyes, before the game, during the half-time. They felt good and they felt comfortable. For us, it’s disappointing the game has ended. But there can be a lot of good things the players can take out of that. I know they will be ready for these next three games. They’ll be fully ready.”

Team News Manchester City
Cushing’s latest squad update: “[Lauren and Alex] have been back in as normal. It’s been nice to get Laura and Aoba in training this week so that for the group has been a big lift.
Asked if Blindkilde Brown and Fujino could feature against United: “I wouldn’t have anyone in training who isn’t ready to be in the squad. They are training so in contention. They have to be assessed by the medical team. We’ve trained hard and aggressively this week. So it’s positive they’ve been in training.”
What the coach has to say:
Manchester City secured a 1-0 win over Leicester City last weekend. Interim head coach Nick Cushing was happy with the three points: “We spoke about finding a way and we have to execute better. Small things matter, but I’m proud we found a way today.
“Brighton was the same and Leicester, we’ve found a way to make sure we’re still mathematically in the Champions League run. I thought we played well in large parts. In the first half, we played with intensity, we dominated the ball and were in their box but have to be better at creating clearer opportunities.
“It’s tough when teams have eight, nine, ten bodies in the box, but it’s about three points and getting them is the most imp ortant thing.”
On the derby: “It’s massive. It’s a 50:50 game if Chelsea win on Wednesday [Chelsea did win e.d]. It’ll be tough, but we can make it possible by winning games. I was disappointed we didn’t get the three points against Everton, but it is what it is. We have to prepare for a difficult Manchester United game next week.”
