Manchester City have announced the signing of Grace Clinton on a permanent four-year deal, keeping her at the club until the summer of 2029. The midfielder said goodbye to Manchester United just hours before the deal was confirmed and will wear the No. 6 shirt.
Clinton began her career at Everton before signing for Manchester United in 2022. She was sent out on loan to Bristol City and later Tottenham Hotspur, where she had a standout campaign that earned her the PFA Women’s Young Player of the Year award for 2023/24.
The midfielder returned to United for the 2024/25 season, making 28 appearances across all competitions and scoring nine goals.
On the international stage, Clinton was part of the Lionesses squad that secured their second consecutive European Championship title at the Women’s EURO 2025 in Switzerland.
Words from Grace Clinton Upon Signing
“It feels amazing. I’m so excited. I love the way Manchester City play, and it’s been tough to play against them in the past so I’m excited to be here and meet the girls.
“City, for me, has always played an amazing style of football. Keeping the ball, it looks lovely, and there are amazing players [here].”
Grace Clinton’s Departure Message to United Fans
“Me and the club have taken the decision to part ways over the past few days.
To our supporters, from the day I signed as a teenager I was overwhelmed by your support for me and the team. You are an unbelievable fanbase and always our 12th player. This has been a very difficult decision for me because of the love I have for my temmates and for you, the fans. However, I feel the future of the club and I aren’t on the same page.
For me personally, the next step is about growth, I want to continue to develop and learn. Thank you for everything.”
