Real Madrid Femenino have completed the signing of Dutch international Lineth Beerensteyn on a three-year contract, with the forward set to join Las Blancas from 1 July 2026 until 30 June 2029.

The arrival of Beerensteyn represents one of Real Madrid’s most significant moves of the summer transfer window and signals the club’s intent to accelerate its pursuit of major trophies after another season spent chasing both Liga F and UEFA Women’s Champions League success.

After a career that has taken her through the Netherlands, Germany and Italy, the 28-year-old arrives in Madrid at arguably the peak of her powers following a prolific spell with Wolfsburg.

Real Madrid Add Proven Goalscorer to Evolving Squad

Few forwards in European football enter the summer with stronger credentials than Lineth Beerensteyn. The Netherlands international finished as the Frauen-Bundesliga’s top scorer during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 17 league goals in her first season with Wolfsburg. Her performances quickly attracted attention from clubs across Europe, including sides in the Women’s Super League and Liga F.

Speaking during a recent international break, Beerensteyn acknowledged interest from England but remained open about her future.

“It is a very attractive competition. A lot of our girls play there. I don’t know where I’ll end up yet.”

Real Madrid ultimately won the race for her signature, securing an attacker capable of bringing pace, directness and consistent goals to an evolving frontline. For a team that has often relied heavily on collective attacking patterns rather than a single prolific scorer, Beerensteyn offers something different: proven finishing ability at the highest level.

A Career Built on Winning

Beerensteyn arrives in Madrid with an impressive collection of honours accumulated across Europe’s top leagues. Her journey began with ADO Den Haag, where she won two Dutch Cups before moving to FC Twente in 2016.

A year later, she secured a move to Bayern Munich, spending five successful seasons in Germany and winning the Bundesliga title. She then joined Juventus, adding both the Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup to her trophy collection during a two-year spell in Turin.

In 2024, she returned to Germany to sign for Wolfsburg. Although her second spell in the Bundesliga was relatively short, it proved highly productive, culminating in her becoming the league’s leading scorer.

Internationally, Beerensteyn has been a key figure for the Netherlands for nearly a decade. She was part of the squad that won UEFA Women’s Euro 2017, one of the most significant achievements in Dutch football history. Earlier in her career, she also lifted the UEFA Women’s Under-19 European Championship.

That combination of experience, success and leadership is precisely what Real Madrid are seeking during a transformative period.

Why Beerensteyn Fits Real Madrid’s Rebuild

The transfer arrives during one of the most consequential summers in Real Madrid Femenino’s history.

The club has already confirmed the departures of several important figures, including Naomie Feller and Rocío Gálvez. Earlier exits involving Caroline Weir and Teresa Abelleira have further accelerated a squad overhaul that will reshape the team’s identity heading into the 2026-27 season.

While midfield reinforcements such as Andreia Jacinto and Elisa Senß have already arrived, Real Madrid also needed attacking firepower. Lineth Beerensteyn directly addresses that need.

Her versatility allows her to operate as a central striker, second forward or wide attacker. More importantly, she brings the kind of transitional threat that can trouble elite European opponents. Her ability to stretch defensive lines, attack space behind defenders and convert chances consistently should complement Real Madrid’s increasingly dynamic attacking style.

At 28, she also arrives with the ideal blend of experience and immediate impact potential. Unlike many long-term development signings, Beerensteyn is expected to contribute from day one.

Can Beerensteyn Help Real Madrid Close the Gap on Barcelona?

That may ultimately be the question that defines this transfer. Real Madrid have established themselves as Spain’s second force and a regular Champions League contender, but the club continues to chase its first major trophy since the creation of the women’s team.

Barcelona remain the benchmark domestically and one of the strongest sides in world football. Bridging that gap requires not only talent but proven winners capable of performing in decisive moments. Beerensteyn’s record suggests she could become an important part of that process.

Her experience across multiple elite leagues, combined with her recent goalscoring form, gives Real Madrid an attacker who understands the demands of competing for titles. As Las Blancas begin a new era following several high-profile departures, the Dutch forward arrives as one of the most important signings of the club’s rebuild.

For Real Madrid supporters, the message is clear: this is not simply a replacement signing. It is a statement of ambition. And if Beerensteyn can replicate her Bundesliga form in Liga F, she may quickly become one of the defining faces of Real Madrid’s next chapter.
