The road to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 is well underway, with several nations already securing their place at the tournament in Brazil. The expanded 32-team competition will bring together the world’s best national teams, with qualification taking place across six confederations and an inter-confederation play-off tournament set to determine the final spots.
Host nation Brazil automatically qualified for the finals, while teams across UEFA, AFC, CAF, Concacaf, CONMEBOL and OFC continue their pursuit of a place on football’s biggest stage. Some regions have already confirmed multiple qualifiers, while others still have all of their places up for grabs.

UEFA Women’s World Cup 2027 Qualifiers
Germany became the first European nation to qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 after a 2-0 victory over Norway secured top spot in their group. On match day 6 they were followed by Denmark, Spain and France who all qualified directly as well.
The winners of all League A groups will qualify directly for Brazil 2027. Between October and December 2026, the remaining teams will compete for seven additional direct qualification places through the UEFA play-offs. One further nation will advance to the FIFA inter-confederation play-off tournament.
Heading into the final UEFA Nations League matchday on June 9, Denmark, France and Spain are among the leading contenders to secure direct qualification. However, the race remains wide open in several groups, particularly in Groups A2 and A3, where multiple teams remain in contention.
AFC Women’s World Cup 2027 Qualifiers
Australia, China PR, Japan and Korea Republic were among the first Asian nations to secure qualification for the Women’s World Cup 2027. They have since been joined by Korea DPR and the Philippines.
For the Philippines, qualification marks another major milestone in the rapid development of women’s football in the country. Just a few years after making their FIFA Women’s World Cup debut in 2023, they have now secured back-to-back appearances on the global stage.
Uzbekistan and Chinese Taipei remain in contention and are set to participate in the inter-confederation play-off tournament.
CAF Women’s World Cup 2027 Qualifiers
The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will serve as Africa’s qualification tournament for the Women’s World Cup 2027.
The competition was originally scheduled to take place between March 17 and April 3, 2026, but the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced a postponement less than two weeks before the opening match, citing unforeseen circumstances. The tournament is now scheduled to be played from July 25 to August 16, 2026.
Twelve nations, including hosts Morocco, will compete for Africa’s four direct qualification places. The four semi-finalists will automatically secure tickets to Brazil 2027, while two additional nations will earn places in the FIFA inter-confederation play-offs.
Concacaf Women’s World Cup 2027 Qualifiers
The eight teams that have qualified for the 2026 Concacaf W Championship are now confirmed. Costa Rica, El Salvador, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, the United States and Canada will compete not only for the continental title but also for qualification to the Women’s World Cup 2027.
The tournament will take place between November and December 2026 and will begin directly at the quarter-final stage.
The four semi-finalists will qualify automatically for Brazil 2027. Teams eliminated in the quarter-finals will still have a pathway to the World Cup, with the four losing sides entering a play-off round. The two winners will progress to the FIFA inter-confederation play-off tournament.
CONMEBOL Women’s World Cup 2027 Qualifiers
Brazil’s qualification was guaranteed as hosts of the tournament, leaving the remaining South American nations to battle for the available places through the CONMEBOL Women’s Nations League.
Colombia and Argentina have already secured direct qualification and will join Brazil at the finals.
The remaining qualification battle is focused on the two available places in the FIFA inter-confederation play-off tournament. Venezuela, Ecuador, Paraguay and Peru remain in contention heading into the final stage of the campaign.
OFC Women’s World Cup 2027 Qualifiers
New Zealand became the first Oceania nation to secure qualification for the Women’s World Cup 2027.
The Football Ferns booked their sixth Women’s World Cup appearance with a narrow victory over Papua New Guinea in Auckland. After co-hosting the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup alongside Australia, New Zealand will now look to build on that momentum when they travel to Brazil in 2027.
One additional Oceania nation will have the opportunity to qualify through the FIFA inter-confederation play-off tournament.

FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 Inter-Confederation Play-Offs
Seven confederations will be represented in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 inter-confederation play-offs.
The available places are allocated as follows:
- AFC: 2 teams
- CAF: 2 teams
- Concacaf: 2 teams
- CONMEBOL: 2 teams
- OFC: 1 team
- UEFA: 1 team
The play-off competition will be divided into two stages.
The first phase, scheduled for November and December 2026, will be played at a centralised venue and feature six teams. Participants will be seeded according to the FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking published before the draw.
The two teams that advance from this opening stage will move on to the final phase in February 2027. There they will be joined by two Concacaf teams, one CONMEBOL representative and one UEFA representative that receive automatic entry into the second stage.
The six remaining nations will then be drawn into three separate knockout paths. Each path will consist of a single winner-takes-all match, with the three victorious teams claiming the final places at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027. Teams from the same confederation cannot be drawn into the same pathway.
Direct entry into the second phase has been determined by previous performances. Both Concacaf representatives receive automatic byes based on their results in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 play-off tournament, while UEFA’s representative receives the same advantage. In South America, the highest-ranked eligible nation in the FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking will advance directly to the second phase.
