Manchester City have secured the long-term futures of Laura Blindkilde Brown and Aoba Fujino, with both players signing new contracts through to the summer of 2030.
The two extensions follow important 2025/26 campaigns for the young internationals, who helped City win both the Women’s Super League and Women’s FA Cup.
Blindkilde Brown established herself as a regular in midfield during City’s title-winning season, while Fujino continued her development into one of the club’s most productive attacking players.

Blindkilde Brown rewarded after breakthrough season
Blindkilde Brown joined Manchester City from Aston Villa in January 2024, but the 2025/26 campaign represented a significant step forward in her City career. The midfielder featured in 29 of City’s 32 matches across the season as Jeglertz’s team completed the WSL and FA Cup double.
Her performances also earned her a place on the shortlist for the PFA WSL Young Player of the Year award.
Blindkilde Brown became an important part of City’s midfield alongside players including Yui Hasegawa and Sam Coffey. Her pressing was particularly effective: among midfielders to play at least 1,000 WSL minutes last season, only Chelsea’s Erin Cuthbert won possession in the final third more frequently per 90 minutes.
The England international has now made 59 appearances for City and has also collected seven senior caps for her country since making her Lionesses debut in November 2024. After signing her extension, Blindkilde Brown said she believes City can continue getting the best from her as she looks to develop further.
Fujino commits future after another productive year
Fujino has also signed through to 2030 after becoming an increasingly important part of City’s attack. The Japan international arrived from Tokyo Verdy Beleza in the summer of 2024 and has since made 52 appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals.
Her second season produced seven goals and three assists in 22 appearances as City won the domestic double. Fujino also scored in the FA Cup final victory over Brighton.
That followed four goals and nine assists during her first campaign in English football. Fujino’s success was not limited to club football in 2025/26. She was also part of the Japan team that won the Women’s Asian Cup in March.
The 22-year-old said there is still considerably more she believes she can develop at City, describing that potential for further improvement as an important factor behind her decision to extend.
City keep two important young players until 2030
The two extensions continue City’s investment in players who are already contributing at senior level but still have significant parts of their careers ahead of them.
Blindkilde Brown’s development has strengthened City’s midfield options, while Fujino provides pace, creativity and goals across the attacking positions. Both also played meaningful roles rather than peripheral ones during City’s most successful season to date.
With City defending their WSL and FA Cup titles and returning to European competition in 2026/27, maintaining that depth will be particularly important as the number of fixtures increases.
Director of Football Therese Sjögran described Blindkilde Brown as one of the game’s most exciting talents, while also highlighting Fujino’s potential and development since arriving in Manchester. City have now ensured both will remain part of their plans through the summer of 2030.
