Team News Real Madrid & What the coach has to say

Head coach Alberto Toril spoke to the media with Olga Carmona. Toril is looking forward to the match against Celtic. The three points that are up for grabs are very important to both: “Over the years, the team has improved individually and collectively, and this is also linked to the mental side of the game. The players have the ability to adapt to competing and not drop their level by playing every three days and they are making a lot of progress. To be a big team you have to be able to control all kinds of situations and in that respect, we’re doing very well”.

We expect an update on the squad later today. This is our prediction for the Starting IX:

  • 1 Misa
  • 2 Oihane

Team News Celtic & What the coach has to say

Head coach Elena Sadiku looks ahead to the match against Real Madrid and what they can take with them from the game against FC Twente: “When we went up against FC Twente, we defended really well. I think we all talked about that we maybe need to do a bit better in possession. That is something we are really good at it, and hopefully that is something that we are going to show against Real Madrid when we play. The game-plan will change slightly when it comes to playing against Real Madrid because we need to adapt to how we think we are going to exploit them.’’

Celtic might be the underdog against Real Madrid, but Elena Sadiku does not want that to be in her players heads: “We still want to defend really well, but just be better in possession and on the ball. For me, the most important message going into the game was the badge is huge. We all know what Real Madrid stands for.

“But for us, we need to go into the game and try to do our very best to get points and think about how we can win it. That needs to be in our hunger and game-plan. Respect them, yes.  But fear no one. I’ve said it before, and I think we are all looking forward to seeing brave and confident players taking the challenge on.”
