Niamh Charles is reportedly close to completing a move from Chelsea to Manchester City, with her departure from Stamford Bridge now appearing increasingly likely.
According to The Athletic, Manchester City are advancing in talks to sign the England international as they look to strengthen their defensive options ahead of next season.
Earlier this year, Real Madrid were also linked with Charles as the Spanish side explored options to reinforce the left side of their defence. However, Manchester City now appear to be leading the race for the 26-year-old full-back.

Charles joined Chelsea Women in 2020 from Liverpool after signing a three-year contract. Initially arriving as an attacking wide player, she quickly adapted to a deeper role due to injuries within the squad and developed into one of the Women’s Super League’s most reliable full-backs.
During her first season at Chelsea, Charles mainly featured as a substitute before establishing herself as a regular starter in the 2021/22 campaign, making 19 starts across competitions.

Another injury setback delayed her return in 2026, with Charles only making her first appearance of the calendar year in March during Chelsea’s victory over Aston Villa at Kingsmeadow.
