Ajax have turned to the Women’s Super League as they continue strengthening their squad, completing the signings of Katja Snoeijs from Everton and Nadine Noordam from Brighton & Hove Albion. Although both players arrive from England, their journeys back to the Netherlands have been very different.
Snoeijs leaves Everton after establishing herself as one of the Toffees’ most reliable attacking players over four seasons, while Noordam returns to familiar surroundings after a difficult campaign at Brighton in which she never quite managed to show the qualities that made her one of the Eredivisie’s standout midfielders.
Together, however, the two signings could prove exactly what Ajax needed.

Snoeijs Returns After Proving Herself Abroad
Of the two arrivals, Snoeijs perhaps returns with the stronger reputation. After becoming Eredivisie top scorer with both Telstar and VV Alkmaar before enjoying another prolific spell at PSV, the Dutch international chose to test herself abroad. Successful periods at Bordeaux and Everton followed.
While Everton have endured inconsistent seasons in the Women’s Super League, Snoeijs consistently remained an important attacking option. Her intelligent movement, finishing ability and versatility across the front line made her one of the club’s most dependable performers, even during difficult campaigns.
For Ajax, signing a striker with that level of experience represents a significant boost. At 30, she also brings leadership to a squad that combines several promising young players with experienced internationals.
Noordam Gets the Fresh Start She Needed
For Noordam, the move carries a very different meaning. Only a year ago, leaving Ajax for Brighton looked like the natural next step in her career after winning the Eredivisie and two KNVB Cups in Amsterdam.
The Women’s Super League, however, proved more challenging. Competition for midfield places was fierce, and despite arriving with high expectations, the Dutch midfielder struggled to establish herself as a regular starter. It was not a disastrous season, but equally it never truly reflected the level she had previously shown in the Netherlands.
Returning to Ajax offers something every player values after a difficult year: familiarity. She knows the club, understands the playing style and already has strong relationships within the squad. Sometimes that environment is exactly what allows a player to rediscover their best football.
Why Ajax Wanted Both Players
The arrivals also solve two different needs. Snoeijs provides proven goalscoring ability at both domestic and international level. Having scored goals everywhere she has played, Ajax know exactly what they are getting.
Noordam strengthens midfield with a player who already understands the club’s philosophy while adding experience gained in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
Technical manager Dolf Roks described Noordam as a natural leader whose work rate and football intelligence would immediately improve the squad, while her year in England has given her additional experience to bring back to Amsterdam.
A Strong Message Ahead of the New Season
Ajax have not simply recruited two familiar faces. They have targeted players who left the Netherlands to test themselves abroad and now return with valuable experience. Snoeijs has demonstrated she can succeed in France and England before coming home.
Noordam returns determined to prove that one difficult season in the Women’s Super League does not define her career. That combination of proven quality and renewed motivation could become one of Ajax’s biggest strengths next season.
Why These Transfers Matter
Bringing players back from stronger leagues can often be just as valuable as signing emerging talent. Katja Snoeijs returns as one of Dutch football’s most consistent forwards after several successful years abroad, while Nadine Noordam arrives with unfinished business following a challenging spell at Brighton.
For Ajax, these are not sentimental signings. They are calculated additions designed to strengthen two key areas of the squad with players who already understand the expectations of competing for trophies.
If both rediscover the form that first earned them moves abroad, Ajax may have completed two of the Eredivisie’s smartest transfers this summer.
