Tottenham Hotspur Women have confirmed that Swedish international Amanda Nildén has signed a new contract with the club, extending her stay in north London.

The 28-year-old defender has become an important member of the Spurs squad since initially arriving on loan from Juventus in January 2024. Her consistent performances and versatility have made her a valuable option for head coach Martin Ho, who has increasingly deployed her as a left-sided centre-back.

Tottenham announced the agreement on Thursday, 29 October 2026, although the club has not disclosed the length of the new contract.

Amanda Nildén Delighted to Continue Tottenham Journey

Nildén expressed her pride at extending her time with Tottenham, highlighting the progress the club has made since her arrival. “I’m very proud, it’s a happy moment for me,” she told Tottenham’s official website.

“To see the growth of the Club has been amazing. Now to be a part of the next steps of the journey, it’s an exciting moment and I’m looking forward to that.”

The Sweden international originally joined Spurs on loan from Juventus during the second half of the 2023/24 season. She helped the club reach the Women’s FA Cup Final before completing a permanent move ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Since then, Nildén has established herself as a regular presence in Tottenham’s defence. She made 19 appearances during her first full season with the club and featured another 28 times during the 2025/26 campaign, when Spurs enjoyed their best-ever Women’s Super League season.

Across her time in north London, she has now accumulated 71 appearances and scored three goals.

Martin Ho Highlights Nildén’s Versatility and Leadership Potential

Tottenham head coach Martin Ho believes Amanda Nildén’s ability to operate in different defensive positions makes her an important part of the team’s development.

Although she initially featured primarily at left-back, the Swedish defender has impressed as a left-sided centre-back during much of 2026.

“Amanda gives us flexibility through her ability to play at both full-back and centre-back,” Ho explained.

The Spurs manager highlighted the different responsibilities involved in those positions, including knowing when to support attacks, when to protect the defensive line and how to recognise danger.

Ho also sees Nildén’s new contract as an opportunity to help her develop into a more influential figure within the squad. “This new contract gives us the opportunity to keep developing her game and increase her influence within the team,” he said.

He identified leadership as an important area for further growth, encouraging Nildén to communicate more confidently and take greater responsibility for maintaining the team’s standards.

Her ability to combine defensive commitment with positional flexibility gives Tottenham valuable options as Ho continues shaping his squad.

From Sweden to Juventus and Tottenham

Nildén began her professional career in Sweden, representing IF Brommapojkarna and AIK before moving to England for her first spell in the Women’s Super League.

She joined Brighton & Hove Albion in 2018 and spent two years with the club before returning to Sweden to play for Eskilstuna United.

A subsequent move to Juventus brought significant success. Nildén was part of the Italian club’s treble-winning squad during the 2021/22 season, gaining valuable experience in a team competing for major domestic honours.

Her performances also helped establish her at international level.

After progressing through Sweden’s youth national teams, Nildén made her senior international debut in February 2021. She was subsequently included in Sweden’s squads for the UEFA Women’s European Championships in 2022 and 2025.

Now entering another chapter of her Tottenham career, Nildén will look to build on her growing influence in north London.

Her contract extension provides continuity in Spurs’ defensive options while reinforcing the club’s commitment to developing the players who contributed to their progress in recent seasons.
