Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Danish goalkeeper Isabella Damm from Brøndby IF this transfer summer. The 18-year-old joins the club after previously spending time on trial in North London and arrives with a growing reputation as one of Denmark’s most promising young goalkeepers.

Damm arrives having already made her first-team debut for Brøndby and represented Denmark at youth international level, providing Arsenal with a goalkeeper who has already begun the transition into senior football despite her young age.

A Familiar Face For Arsenal

This is not the first time Arsenal have seen Damm up close. The goalkeeper spent time on trial with the club last season, giving Arsenal’s coaching staff the opportunity to evaluate her in person before making a permanent move.

That previous experience appears to have played an important role in the transfer. Speaking after completing the move, Damm highlighted her familiarity with the environment and explained that she already felt Arsenal was the right place for her next step.

Having previously trained alongside players and staff at the club, she arrives with a clear understanding of what will be expected.

From Brøndby To North London

Isabella Damm joined Brøndby in 2021 and progressed through the club’s youth system before making her senior debut in October 2025. She has also represented Denmark at both Under-17 and Under-19 level, building experience in one of Europe’s strongest youth development systems.

That combination of club and international exposure has helped establish her as one of the country’s most promising goalkeeping prospects.

Arsenal’s Director of Women’s Football, Clare Wheatley, described Damm as one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe within her age group, underlining the level of belief the club has in her potential.

Learning From Established Internationals

One of the biggest attractions of the move is the opportunity to work alongside Arsenal’s senior goalkeepers. Damm will join a goalkeeping group that includes Daphne van Domselaar and Anneke Borbe, giving her daily exposure to players already competing at the highest level.

In her first interview after signing, Damm spoke openly about her excitement at learning from both goalkeepers and taking advantage of the environment around her. For a young goalkeeper, that type of experience can be invaluable.

Goalkeeping is often a position where development takes time, and training alongside established internationals offers opportunities that can accelerate that process.

A Long-Term Investment

The comments from both Arsenal and Isabella Damm point towards a shared understanding of the move. This is not a transfer built around immediate first-team expectations.

Instead, Arsenal appear to see Damm as a goalkeeper with strong technical foundations and significant room for growth, while the player herself has spoken about becoming the best version of both the footballer and person she wants to be.

That alignment is often what clubs look for when recruiting young talent.

Why It Matters

Not every signing is designed to make an immediate impact. Sometimes recruitment is about identifying talent before it reaches the wider spotlight, and Arsenal clearly believe Isabella Damm falls into that category.

The Danish goalkeeper arrives with youth international experience, first-team exposure at Brøndby and a reputation that has already attracted attention beyond her home country.

Whether she breaks into Arsenal’s senior plans in the near future remains to be seen, but the club’s belief in her potential is already clear.
