Chelsea midfielder Vera Jones has signed a new contract committing her future to the club until at least 2029. The 18-year-old joined Chelsea in the summer of 2024 and signed her first professional agreement in February 2025. Her new three-year deal follows a season on loan with Bristol City in WSL 2. Jones has yet to make her competitive Chelsea debut, making that the next significant target in her development.

Senior Experience Strengthens Chelsea’s Belief
Jones spent the entire 2025/26 campaign with Bristol City, making 22 appearances across her first sustained season in senior football.
Although only five of those appearances came from the starting line-up, the loan allowed her to experience the physical and tactical demands of WSL 2 while regularly competing for minutes.
Chelsea have now given Jones longer-term security before confirming what comes next. The renewal protects the club’s investment in a player who remains early in her development and gives the midfielder time to work towards a place in the senior squad.
“I’m really pleased to be renewing my contract at Chelsea,” Jones said. “I’ve enjoyed my time so far, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what’s to come and continuing to learn and grow.”
A First Chelsea Appearance Is the Next Target
Jones has been direct about what she wants to achieve during the new agreement. “I hope to make my debut soon, get that first goal, and then eventually play at Stamford Bridge,” she added.
Those ambitions underline her current position. She has progressed beyond academy football and gained useful senior experience, but she is not yet established within Chelsea’s first team.
Jones also continues to develop internationally. She most recently scored for England Under-20s in a 1-1 draw with the United States in July.
Chelsea have ensured she will remain part of their plans for at least another three years. The next decision, whether she stays around the first team or continues gaining experience elsewhere, will determine how quickly that first appearance arrives.
