First reported by Relevo in May and now officially confirmed by Real Madrid: Sara Holmgaard has signed with the club on a contract running until June 2027.
She joins from Everton, where she has played since 2022 and established herself as a consistent performer. A solid defender who also contributes offensively, Holmgaard is a versatile asset on the pitch. The 26-year-old Danish international renewed her contract with Everton in July 2024, and in the 2024/25 season, she made 19 appearances, scoring three goals and providing four assists.
Holmgaard has also been selected for the Danish national team heading to the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 in Switzerland.

Merle Frohms has also joined Real Madrid, signing a contract until June 2028. The goalkeeper arrives from VfL Wolfsburg, where she won two UEFA Women’s Champions League titles, four Frauen-Bundesliga championships, and seven German Cups.
Frohms represented the German national team from 2018 to 2024, concluding her international career with a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. She has spent her entire club career in the Frauen-Bundesliga, including spells with Freiburg, Eintracht Frankfurt, and two stints at Wolfsburg.

Sara Däbritz has left Olympique Lyonnais and joined Real Madrid on a free transfer. During her time in France, she won six titles with Lyon: three league championships, the French Cup, and two French Super Cups.
Däbritz began her senior career at SC Freiburg in 2012, moved to FC Bayern Munich in 2015, and later joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2019. She signed with Lyon in 2022 before making the switch to Madrid.
Internationally, Däbritz has been a key figure for Germany, representing her country at the 2016 Olympics, the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and UEFA EURO 2022. She has also been named in the squad for Women’s EURO 2025, taking place this summer in Switzerland.
