Juventus have extended Federica D’Auria’s contract until 30 June 2029 after the academy graduate established herself within Isaac Guerrero’s first-team squad.

The 22-year-old defender has been with Juventus since 2017 but needed three seasons away from Turin before receiving her senior opportunity with the Bianconere.

D’Auria initially spent time on loan at Cesena before joining Lazio for two consecutive campaigns. Those spells provided the regular senior football required to move beyond academy potential, while her performances also led to her first call-ups to the Italy senior squad.

She has now returned to Juventus as a more experienced player and earned a place in Guerrero’s starting line-up.

Three Loan Seasons Created a Juventus Opportunity

Federica D’Auria progressed through Juventus’ Primavera team and received several first-team call-ups before signing her first professional contract.

A permanent place in the senior side was not immediately available, making competitive minutes elsewhere the more valuable next step. Her loan with Cesena began that process before two seasons at Lazio provided greater continuity.

The value of those moves can now be measured by the role she has earned upon returning. D’Auria is no longer being retained solely as a promising academy graduate. Juventus have seen enough in senior football to commit to her until 2029 and include her in a team competing domestically and in Europe.

Her pathway also shows why a succession of loans can work when every move provides genuine playing opportunities and increasing responsibility.

European Debut Marks Another Step

Federica D’Auria recently made her Women’s Champions League debut against Torreense in Biella, adding European experience to her first-team breakthrough.

One appearance does not establish her as a guaranteed starter, but it shows that Guerrero is prepared to trust her in competitive matches carrying significant consequences.

The long-term contract gives D’Auria time to strengthen that position without needing to prove her entire Juventus future during a short run of games.

Competition within the squad will remain demanding. Her challenge is now to turn an encouraging return into a sustained role and demonstrate that the development achieved at Cesena and Lazio can translate to Juventus.

A Loan Pathway Reaches Its Intended Destination

Juventus first invested in Federica D’Auria as a youth player in 2017. Nine years later, the club are beginning to receive a senior return from that investment.

Her route required patience from every side. Juventus retained control of her development, D’Auria accepted the need to build experience elsewhere, and her loan clubs provided the minutes unavailable in Turin.

The outcome is a defender who has returned with senior experience, international recognition and a Champions League debut already behind her.

The contract until 2029 does not complete D’Auria’s development. It confirms that Juventus believe the next part should happen in black and white.
