Feyenoord have completed the permanent signing of South Korea international Casey Phair from Angel City, handing the highly rated forward a contract until the summer of 2029.
The 19-year-old arrives in Rotterdam after spending last season on loan with Swedish club Djurgårdens IF. Her move gives Feyenoord a young, physically strong attacker who has already appeared on the sport’s biggest international stage.
Phair became the youngest footballer to play at a FIFA Women’s World Cup when she represented South Korea at the age of 16 years and 26 days. That record made her globally recognisable before her senior club career had properly begun. Three years later, the challenge is to turn that historic introduction into sustained influence at first-team level. Feyenoord will hope their new forward can do exactly that in the Vrouwen Eredivisie.

Phair Leaves Angel City for Feyenoord
Casey Phair was born in South Korea but grew up in the United States, developing through the Pingry School and PDA Warren Township before signing her first professional contract with Angel City in 2024.
Her most recent experience came in Sweden during a loan spell with Djurgården. Moving permanently to Feyenoord now offers greater stability than another temporary agreement would have provided.
Her contract through 2029 gives both club and player time to develop the relationship. Feyenoord are not signing Phair solely for what she can contribute immediately; they are also investing in what she could become over the next three seasons.
“I feel proud to continue my football career at Feyenoord,” Phair said after completing the transfer. “I have already heard many positive things about the club, so I am incredibly excited to get started.”
What Casey Phair Can Bring to Feyenoord
Phair describes herself as a physical attacker who makes frequent runs and wants to score goals.
That profile could give Feyenoord a direct presence across their forward line. Her movement can help stretch defences, while her physical strength should provide the team with an option when playing through pressure or attacking space behind an opponent’s back line.
She is still only 19, however, and should be given room to develop the technical and tactical consistency required at senior club level.
Phair’s international experience is considerable for someone of her age, but tournament appearances and regular domestic football place different demands on a player. At Feyenoord, she will be judged less by the record she set at 16 and more by her ability to influence matches from week to week. That is the opportunity created by this transfer.
A Career Already Spanning Several Football Cultures
Despite her age, Casey Phair has already experienced football environments in the United States, Sweden and South Korea’s national-team system. The Netherlands now becomes the next stage of that education.
Each environment asks different questions of a forward. American football has traditionally placed significant emphasis on athleticism and transition play, while the Swedish and Dutch competitions can provide important tactical and technical lessons for young players.
Phair’s ability to adapt will determine how quickly she establishes herself at Feyenoord.
Her long-term contract reduces the need to treat the move as a short audition. She can settle into the team, learn its attacking patterns and build the kind of club continuity that has so far been difficult to establish during the opening years of her professional career.
More Than a World Cup Record
Casey Phair’s World Cup milestone will understandably remain the headline attached to her name. Becoming the youngest player in the history of the competition is an achievement that cannot be repeated or taken away. It should not define the rest of her career, though.
The more important question is what follows. Feyenoord have acquired a forward with international exposure, physical qualities and significant developmental time ahead of her. Phair has joined a club prepared to commit to her until 2029.
Her arrival therefore represents more than a recognisable name entering the Vrouwen Eredivisie. It is an opportunity for Phair to build a club identity alongside the international history she has already made.
