Benfica have signed Frøya Dorsin from Paris Saint-Germain on loan until the end of the 2026-27 season, with an option to make the transfer permanent.
The 19-year-old Norwegian forward arrives after spending the second half of last season with Roma, where she scored twice in 16 appearances and helped the club win the Italian league and cup.
Dorsin has now represented clubs in Norway, France and Italy before her 20th birthday. Benfica offer another new environment, but the structure of this move is different. For the first time since leaving Rosenborg, she has a complete season and a possible permanent future waiting at the same club.

Three Countries Before Her 20th Birthday
Frøya Dorsin made her senior debut for Rosenborg at 15 after beginning her development with IL Trond. She scored five goals in 28 appearances between 2023 and 2024 and won the Norwegian Cup before joining PSG in September 2024. Her first season in Paris produced two goals from 11 appearances.
Dorsin played another four matches during the first half of 2025-26 before moving to Roma on loan in January. She added two goals in 16 appearances during a campaign that ended with two domestic trophies.
Those spells have exposed her to successful teams and different footballing environments, but they have also made the beginning of her professional career fragmented. Benfica become her fourth senior club and her third outside Norway.
The next stage requires more than another collection of appearances. Dorsin needs the continuity to establish how she can influence a team across an entire season.
Why Benfica Already Felt Familiar
Frøya Dorsin’s first Women’s Champions League appearance came at Benfica’s Estádio da Luz in December 2025. She started for PSG as the teams drew 1-1 on the final matchday of the league phase. That experience gave her an early view of the stadium and atmosphere she will now represent.
It was not her first encounter with Benfica. Dorsin had already scored against the Portuguese club during the World Sevens Football competition in May 2025.
Those matches do not remove the challenge of adapting to a new team, country and league. They do mean her first memories of Benfica were created as an opponent rather than through a presentation at the stadium.
Dorsin described the club’s size, supporters and project as decisive factors in her move. A conversation with the coach and staff then convinced her that Lisbon was the correct place for the next stage of her development.
A Forward Who Wants the Space Behind
Frøya Dorsin thinks of herself as a strong and quick forward who looks to attack the space behind defences. That preference gives Benfica a clear idea of what she wants to bring. She can threaten beyond the defensive line, use her speed in open space and finish attacks herself.
Her record is still developing. Dorsin scored twice during each of her spells with PSG and Roma, while her five Rosenborg goals remain the largest return from a single club. The Benfica loan must begin turning those flashes into more consistent production.
Dorsin has said she wants to score regularly and contribute assists, but her influence will also depend on whether she can use her movement to create openings for the players around her.
A Loan With a Consequence
The option to buy changes how the season should be viewed. Benfica are not only borrowing a young PSG player. They have secured the right to retain her if she develops into an important part of the team.
Dorsin therefore has a clear route beyond May. Strong performances could produce more than a successful temporary spell; they could establish where the next phase of her career takes place.
That opportunity also gives Benfica time to judge her across domestic competition and the Women’s Champions League before making a longer commitment.
Dorsin joins a club that has won six national championships and expects to compete for further trophies. She has already identified the league, cup and a long Champions League campaign as her targets.
Those ambitions will ultimately depend on earning a place and producing consistently. Her two goals in 16 Roma appearances provide a starting point, not a guarantee.
Benfica Can End the Cycle of Short Stays
Dorsin has accumulated Champions League experience, won trophies in Norway and Italy and progressed through every Norwegian youth level from U15 to U23. She also captained her country at U17 level.
Her development has never lacked impressive environments. What it has lacked since she left Norway is an extended period in one team.
Benfica now have a season to decide whether Dorsin can become their player permanently. She has the same period to show that her journey no longer needs another temporary destination.
