Charlton Athletic have signed Iceland international Linda Líf Boama from Kristianstads DFF for a club-record fee ahead of their return to the Women’s Super League.
The 25-year-old striker has agreed a three-year contract with the Addicks and will wear the number 13 shirt. The precise fee has not been disclosed, but Charlton have confirmed that it represents a new transfer record for their women’s team.
Boama arrives in England during the Swedish season, having scored six goals and provided two assists in 13 Damallsvenskan appearances for Kristianstad in 2026. She was the club’s leading league scorer before completing her move to SE7.

Charlton add speed and strength to their attack
Linda Líf Boama described herself as a fast, strong striker who intends to bring hard work to Karen Hills’ team. Those qualities give Charlton another way of attacking as they prepare for the increased speed and physical demands of the WSL.
Her productivity in Sweden adds substance to the signing. Boama began the Damallsvenskan season with a goal and an assist against Piteå before scoring twice against Djurgården. She also created another goal against Växjö as Kristianstad made the best league start in the club’s history.
That form earned her the Damallsvenskan Player of the Month award for April. She subsequently increased her league total to six goals, making her Kristianstad’s leading scorer at the time of her departure.
Charlton are investing in a forward who is already in competitive rhythm rather than one arriving after a summer without matches. Boama’s most recent league goal came in Kristianstad’s 5-0 victory over IFK Norrköping on 16 August.
“I’m super happy,” Boama said after completing the transfer. “It’s always been a dream to play in the WSL, so I’m happy to be here.” She added: “I’m so happy to be here, and I can’t wait to get started.”
From Iceland to the WSL through the United States and Sweden
Boama began her senior career with HK/Víkingur in Iceland before joining Þróttur in 2019. She spent two seasons with the Reykjavík club and then moved to the United States to represent the Boston College Eagles while studying at Boston College.
After returning to Iceland, she played for Víkingur Reykjavík and subsequently joined Kristianstad. The Swedish club initially signed her to a three-year contract ahead of the 2026 season, but have now agreed to sell her to Charlton while that deal was still in force.
Kristianstad confirmed that Charlton had bought Linda Líf Boama out of her existing contract. That helps explain why the move required a record payment from the newly promoted club.
Boama has also progressed into Iceland’s senior national team. She featured four times and scored once in the latest UEFA Women’s European Qualifiers, adding international experience to a career already spanning four countries.
Record fee signals Charlton’s WSL ambition
Charlton won promotion by beating Leicester City on penalties in the WSL play-off at The Valley. Goalkeeper Sophie Whitehouse saved four penalties as the Addicks secured their place in the expanded top flight in front of a club-record crowd of 3,979.
Survival will require Charlton to improve a squad constructed for WSL2, and the decision to pay a club-record fee for Boama demonstrates a willingness to invest in players who can strengthen the starting team.
The signing does not guarantee that the step up will be straightforward. Boama must adjust to a new league while Charlton adapt collectively to facing full-time top-flight opponents every week. Her current form, physical profile and international experience nevertheless provide credible reasons to believe she can contribute immediately.
Boama could make her first appearance in Charlton’s final pre-season match against Wolverhampton Wanderers at The Valley on Sunday 30 August. The Addicks then begin their WSL campaign at home to Liverpool.

Linda Líf Boama has selected the number 13 shirt because of its personal significance. Her mother’s birthday is on 13 December, while the striker also regards 13 as a lucky number.
“It’s for my mum,” she explained. “Her birthday is on December 13th, and there’s also this really famous saying: ‘lucky number 13’.”
