Liverpool have handed Lucy Parry a new contract, continuing a relationship that began when the defender joined the club at the age of seven.
The 22-year-old has already made 49 senior appearances after becoming Liverpool FC Women’s youngest-ever player at the time of her debut in 2020. She has since experienced promotion, a loan spell in Scotland and several seasons around the first team.
Her new deal, however, is not simply a reward for that journey. It gives Parry the chance to take the next step from long-serving academy graduate to a more consistent member of Liverpool’s senior side.

From Liverpool’s Academy to the First Team
Few players have a connection with Liverpool that stretches as far back as Lucy Parry’s. She joined the club at seven and progressed through the youth system before making her senior debut against Coventry United Ladies in 2020. Aged 16 years and 150 days, she became the youngest player to represent Liverpool FC Women at the time.
Parry made another four appearances the following season as Liverpool secured promotion back to the Women’s Super League. Her development then took her away from the club temporarily, with the full-back joining Hibernian on loan.
That experience in Scotland was followed by a return to Liverpool and a larger first-team role. She featured 16 times during the 2023-24 campaign before scoring her first senior goal in January 2025, finding the net against West Ham United in the fourth round of the Women’s FA Cup.
Her England U23 involvement has provided further recognition, but her progress at Liverpool has remained gradual rather than immediate.

Lucy Parry’s age means there is still room for development, but 49 first-team appearances change how her position should be viewed.
She has moved beyond the initial breakthrough stage. She understands the senior environment, has already played in different competitions and has experienced football away from Liverpool during her time at Hibernian.

Liverpool are retaining a defender who has developed within their system, played in their promotion-winning squad and already accumulated considerable senior experience for her age. Parry, meanwhile, remains in familiar surroundings as she attempts to earn greater responsibility.
