London City Lionesses have continued their busy summer by completing the signing of Germany international Nicole Anyomi on a four-year contract.

The 26-year-old forward arrives following the expiration of her contract with Eintracht Frankfurt, bringing significant experience from both the Bundesliga and international football. Having spent her entire senior career in Germany, the move to England represents a major new chapter for one of the country’s most established attacking players.

For London City, it is another notable addition as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new Women’s Super League season.

A Proven Performer In Germany

Anyomi leaves Frankfurt after five successful years with the club, where she developed into one of the Bundesliga’s most dangerous forwards.

Since joining in 2021, she scored 60 goals in 130 appearances while regularly featuring in both domestic and European competition. Her pace, versatility and direct style made her a key figure in Frankfurt’s attack and helped establish her reputation as one of Germany’s leading forwards.

Before her move to Frankfurt, Anyomi came through the youth system at Borussia Mönchengladbach before joining SGS Essen in 2014. She made her Bundesliga debut at just 16 years old and quickly emerged as one of the league’s brightest young talents. During her time at Essen, she scored 21 goals in 84 appearances and helped the club reach the 2020 DFB-Pokal final.

Her performances also earned international recognition, leading to her first senior Germany call-up.

International Experience At The Highest Level

Nicole Anyomi’s development through Germany’s youth ranks eventually led to senior international football. A UEFA Women’s Under-17 European champion, she made her senior Germany debut in 2021 and has since become a regular part of the national team setup.

She was included in the Germany squads that reached the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 final and won a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympic Games. To date, she has earned 34 senior caps and scored four international goals.

That level of experience should provide London City with a player accustomed to performing under pressure and competing against some of the best players in world football.

Why London City Appealed To Anyomi

While this is London City’s latest high-profile addition, the move is equally significant for Anyomi herself. Speaking after completing the transfer, the forward explained that she had long wanted to experience football outside Germany.

“I always wanted to play abroad and to have the offer from this club with their project means the world,” she said.

Anyomi also revealed she had heard positive things about both England and the Women’s Super League from close friend Shekiera Martinez, who previously played for West Ham before joining Tottenham.

The Germany international believes the move will challenge her to improve further as a player.

“The Women’s Super League is fast and direct and there is a need to be more physical and to improve myself,” she said.

Having already tested herself in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and the Bundesliga, England now provides the next opportunity in her career development.

What Anyomi Brings To London City

Nicole Anyomi arrives with a profile that should suit the demands of the Women’s Super League. Her ability to play across the forward line, combined with her pace and direct running, gives London City additional attacking options. Just as importantly, she brings proven goalscoring pedigree after consistently producing numbers throughout her time in Germany.

At 26, she also arrives during what should be the prime years of her career. Rather than signing a player approaching the end of her journey, London City have secured an established international who still has room to develop further. For a club continuing to build for the future, that combination of experience and potential makes the signing particularly attractive.
