Olaya Rodríguez has completed a permanent move to R.C. Deportivo de La Coruña after spending the previous season there on loan. She quickly became one of the team’s key players, making 29 appearances and scoring five goals. Olaya has signed a contract with Deportivo ABANCA until 2028.
During her time at Real Madrid, she featured for both the senior and B teams. She made six appearances in Liga F and two in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. The remainder of her time was spent with Real Madrid B, where she played 14 matches and helped the team earn promotion to the Primera Federación Iberdrola.
On the international stage, Olaya represents Spain. She won the U17 World Cup in 2022 and was a runner-up at the U17 European Championship the same year. In 2023, she won the U19 European Championship and is currently part of the U20 national team.
Real Madrid appoints new head coach
While it’s unfortunate to see a talented player like Olaya Rodríguez leave the club, her move to Deportivo ABANCA should offer her more regular playing time—something that will benefit her development.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid Femenino are heading in a new direction with the appointment of Pau Quesada as head coach. He has signed a contract through 2027. Quesada previously worked in the Real Madrid youth academy between 2021 and 2023 and returns to the club after serving as assistant coach for Torino’s men’s first team since 2024. This will be his first experience managing a women’s team.
Strenghtening the squad
With a new head coach in place, the club’s attention now turns to strengthening the squad during the transfer window. Real Madrid have been linked to several potential signings, while some departures are also expected.
One high-profile name in the rumor mill is Sara Däbritz, who recently left Olympique Lyonnais as a free agent. According to Relevo (via Sandra Riquelme), the German international midfielder is on her way to Madrid. Däbritz, who joined Lyon in 2022, has been a key figure in their midfield.
