Union Berlin have completed the permanent signings of Spanish full-back Judit Pujols from Wolfsburg and former Werder Bremen captain Lina Hausicke, strengthening their defence and midfield on consecutive days.
Pujols arrives as a 21-year-old with experience at Barcelona and Wolfsburg, while 28-year-old Hausicke brings 192 Frauen-Bundesliga appearances and nine years of service at Werder.
The two additions give Union contrasting qualities as they continue building their squad for the 2026/27 campaign. Pujols offers international youth pedigree and further development potential, while Hausicke provides extensive domestic experience and established leadership.

Pujols continues career in Berlin after one season at Wolfsburg
Pujols joins Union after making 24 appearances and scoring once during her season with Wolfsburg. Her only Frauen-Bundesliga goal came against her new club in March, when she found the net during a 3-3 draw between Wolfsburg and Union Berlin.
The defender had moved to Germany in July 2025 following six years within Barcelona’s system. Born in Catalonia, Pujols entered La Masia in 2019 before becoming a permanent member of Barcelona B’s squad for the 2022/23 season.
She made 76 competitive appearances and scored twice for the second team before progressing into Barcelona’s senior squad at 18. Pujols went on to make four first-team appearances across Liga F, the Copa de la Reina and Women’s Champions League.
Barcelona won four trophies during that campaign: Liga F, the Copa de la Reina, the Spanish Super Cup and the Women’s Champions League. Pujols’ move to Berlin also reunites her with goalkeeper Nelly Smolarczyk, who left Wolfsburg for Union earlier this summer.
Success throughout Spain’s youth teams
Pujols arrives with a significant record at youth international level. She helped Spain win the Under-17 World Cup in 2022 before lifting the European Under-19 Championship in both 2023 and 2024. Pujols captained the team during the second of those European title-winning campaigns.
The full-back has made 43 appearances across Spain’s youth international teams. Her combination of senior club experience and success at international tournaments gives Union a player who can contribute immediately while continuing her development.

Hausicke brings nine years of Werder experience
Hausicke joins Union after a lengthy spell with Werder Bremen, where she made 207 appearances and scored 18 goals following her arrival in 2017.
The midfielder had captained Werder since 2020, giving Union another experienced leader within their squad. Her 192 Bundesliga appearances are the most of any current Union player and place her among the competition’s 100 leading appearance-makers.
Hausicke experienced both relegation and promotion during her time in Bremen. Werder dropped into the second tier in 2019 but secured an immediate return to the Bundesliga the following season.
Before joining Werder, she developed with FF USV Jena. Hausicke made her second-tier debut in November 2013 and appeared in the Bundesliga for the first time in April 2014, when she was 17.
It was at Jena that she first played alongside current Union defender Anna Weiß, providing another familiar connection as she begins her career in Berlin. Hausicke also represented Germany six times at Under-19 level.
Two different profiles for Union’s squad
Announcing the players one day apart allowed Union to address two different areas with complementary profiles.
Pujols adds a younger, attack-minded option at full-back and already has experience in Spain, the Bundesliga and European competition. Hausicke brings reliability in central midfield, detailed knowledge of the German league and the leadership developed through six years as Werder captain.
The permanent moves also continue Union’s effort to add players already familiar with the club or members of the current squad. Pujols knows Smolarczyk from Wolfsburg, while Hausicke previously shared a dressing room with Weiß.
